If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Download the break in slides and run them for 100 hrs. That will help break in the phosphorus on the plasma which will help you avoid burn in and help establish the colorsComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
So, I really want to get the Samsung PN51D7000 like jmood has. It would complete my bedroom HT experience.
I read that it has inferior black levels to the 59" and 64" models, though. Can anyone confirm that? I shouldn't be too picky anyway... anything would be better and my current 23" LCD (though it fits perfectly in my room and furniture as is).
Also, for anyone with this TV, when you watch Blu-ray, do you prefer having the 1080/24p option on or off? I heard there was some judder when you have it on, so I just wanted to hear your thoughts on that.Last edited by Blzer; 10-13-2011, 10:54 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

The 51" model is still a great "bang for the buck" regardless though.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
EDIT: Actually, looking at Wikipedia's viewing distance recommendations, the 59" screen sounds suitable to me. Now I'm just going to wait for the right deal (and, of course, my parents' okay for it, which is ridiculous).Last edited by Blzer; 10-13-2011, 10:56 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Well, now I'm looking up reviews for the 51" model vs the 59" model, and while the 59" model probably has better black levels (and is bigger), there are a lot of complaints about the TV buzzing and the screen "peeling" from the real black filter sheet melting due to overheating.
I really hope to not expect either of these issues, but it sounds like this could be plaguing. Has anybody noticed anything like this?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Is it possible to get a good 1080P ~42-46" set for under/around $600?

I sit about 9 feet away from my 64" and while it was huge at first, I got used to it fast. It definitely does not feel "too big" anymore. In fact, I was just thinking to myself the other day that I hope they put out a 70" version next year.Comment
