It can, but it will decode that signal into YCbCr. You really have no choice for gaming since you use a PS3. For BR you do have a choice & I would suggest setting it to YCbCr with Super White set to ON

I've had that setting on Automatic since having my PS3. I'm not sure if that's the same setting though that changes the color range from Limited to Full. Is that the same one?

So I should probably just leave it on Limited, then?

Automatic should be fine. You should be able to tell if your getting YCbCr because Super White should able to be changed to On/Off. (Blu Ray/DVD) If not then manually change it to YCbCr

For gaming you should set Color Space to Limited

I had my PN64D7000 calibrated by Chad Billheimer so if you want some settings, check out post #1039 in this thread where I posted my calibration report.

Thanks, I will do. Currently I'm using settings provided by cue03 on the AVS Forums (Chad B. calibrated his 64" D8000), but I want to check out a wide array of them to see which one my panel fits best with.

When there are so many little adjustments with the 10pt white balance and entire grayscale, I'm going to have to rely on others to optimize my set to at least something that's better than default.

So I just picked up a $30 pair of 3D glasses, and used the 2D-to-3D converter and watched some Avatar and Transformers: DOTM. I was actually blown away at how well it did.

Then I tried The Dark Knight and Inception, and I thought the conversion blew on these. Then it got me thinking... maybe it's because the first two were actually filmed in 3D, so they already have some pre-processing done on the flat layer that helps the TV decode it more nicely.

Perhaps, but perhaps not. Either way, it's nice to have that 3D alternative for some things. Since I'm still breaking in my TV, I don't want to stick on any one thing too consistently right now. When my stand comes in Monday and I can clean up my room, I'll be able to judge how everything is doing much better.

Anyway, I tried to equip the 3D mode on MLB 11: The Show, and it was pretty awful. It brings the game to a slow crawl in terms of framerate, and it didn't really do much when hitting. I'd rather have the TV process this for me. At least then it keeps the framerate.

Also, my eyes are kind of hurting right now after doing some 3D watching. It's definitely an acquired kind of way of watching TV at home.

Just applied your settings. Frickin' awesome, sir! I'm getting more shadow detail and less green gain, unlike the old settings I was using.

Gamecock am I experience the ghosting effect you get on LCDs? I am home watching my dad's panasonic plasma. Pirates of the Carribean in HD on 'E!'. It just looks so weird. Hard to explain, but when characters move it's like there is some lag in their movements. It's making me really really happy I bought a plasma because it's almost unwatchable.

If the TV weren't to emit any light on my baby blue wall color, mine would be pitch black as well haha (at night, at least... as it should be ). In the day time, it's very good dim light as well. If I just crank the cell light to 20, it will be good enough for me for day time as well.

I was skeptic of using your settings when I saw the gamma at 0 and the brightness above 60, the minimum ftL would be too high. Then I saw a lot of pushes in the 10p white balance, and noticed that did everything with the picture afterward. Which actually does pose but one problem for me, and that's in 3D. The 10p feature is grayed out when watching 3D content, therefore your settings actually aren't the best I can use for 3D. Did he use something else for you, that you know of?

I actually did not have him touch any 3D settings on my set, nor have I ever even used 3D a single time. I just have absolutely no interest in that technology whatsoever.

Ha, well it intrigues me that I actually have an at-home thing to utilize on demand, free of charge lol.

I'll have to find good settings for them on AVS. Unfortunately, there's nothing to remedy the darkness issue.

I think blzer is referring to the darkness due to the active 3D technology. he is right about there being no remedy. the only alternative is the passive 3D technology that Vizio and LG use (which you then lose 1080p resolution for 540p)
