Phoohawkey. I can see the difference between 720p and 1080i on my 23" LCD. It can't do 1080p, but I'm sure that would mean that 720p and 1080p would mean even more of a difference.

Not saying it's worth or not worth a steeper price upgrade or what have you, but I never like when somebody decides to make a claim that it's impossible to perceive a picture quality difference.

We have a 32 inch in our bedroom. It's a LED, 1080p, I can't tell much difference at all between the upstairs TV and downstairs one I just explained and neither can our 17 yr. old. It is what it is, not everyone is the same in detecting things.

Go into BB and look at the 32 inch screens. 90% of them are 720's.

The only reason why we went 1080p in the bedroom is because the BB rep said in our area, Time Warner and antennas are 80% of the customer base. He said Directv is the only provider in our area that broadcast in 1080. That's why we went with 1080 in the bedroom.

Let me rephrase:

On your 1080p TV, go on your 360 dashboard or PS3 XMB (if you own one), and go from your checked 1080p option, and downconvert it to 720p. Let me know if you see any difference on the dashboard/XMB itself, if not 1080p content like movies, etc.

Oh... well no, there won't be a difference, because both will broadcast 720p (or 1080i, but both will broadcast the same thing). No 1080p television broadcasts, except some channels on DirecTV, which is upconverted.

Looking for a new led tv. Looking at best buy I saw a nice one for $999. I dont care for a smart tv but this one was. But the picture just look so good. I believe it was a 55 inch .

Yeah, the 6500 model is just adding the 3d option. The 6100 model is the same in terms of picture quality, refresh rate, etc. if you're not going to use 3d, go 6100. If you want 3d, well I would suggest going to a 240hz tv.

So, I returned my Panasonic P50U50 50" Plasma because I just couldn't get past how dim the picture was. Even with the lights turned off and watching in the basement. Sports in particular were just too dark. Movies looked exceptional, but regular tv viewing also was dim. I played with all the settings and nothing helped.

I spent $59 more (had a $45 BB certficate) and purchased the Samsung 51" Plasma for $699. I did some research and found out that while the Samsung might not have the blackest of blacks, their panels are brigher than the Panasonic Plasmas. Yes, it's still not as bright as an LED, but the colors, motion, etc. along with sports and regular tv viewing are phenomenal.

On a side note, tonight I picked up a Logitech Harmony 650 remote for $80. BEST 80 dollars I've ever spent. I have completely missed the boat on remote controls. Before I was using the tv remote to turn the tv on, the directv remote to turn the dvr and change the channels, etc., and my surround sound remote for turning that on and off and adjusting the volume.

Well, after an easy set up an assigning a couple different activities, I now hit the "watch tv", and the tv, surround sound, and directv all turn on. Everything is controlled from one remote. Even better, I was able to program the 360, surround sound, and tv to all turn on at one time with the tv off. With it on, I can quickly switch over to the 360 by pressing actitivities and 360. I'm in loooooove with this remote and I realize this is pretty much the entry level Logitech remote. Can't imagine what the $250 and $350 remotes do!

Not sure what your budget is by Samsung plasma this year are not as bright as the Panny plasma

50 inches and smaller the diff is barely there if at all IF you sit further then 6 feet from the tv. Once you sit further the diff is gone but if you sit closer you will be able to tell.

When you have a 55-60-65 inch set then you can view the diff when sitting 10 ft back.

People keep saying this, but again... 23" LCD and I've sat six feet away seeing an easy difference between 720p and 1080i.

These "human eye facts" crap are just advisory warnings for those who may not see the difference, but you can't take them as the cold hard truth.

That is fine if you can see it but this is the findings of those who test these things. Using your PS3 xmb is a horrible example. That is not motion resolution but from my experience I can see the diff because I sit close to my 23 inch led but if i sit back as if i am watching my 65 inch then you wont see any difference in motion resolution.

But if you do then good for you
