For those that have the ks8500 how does the tv look in game mode? Does the graphics take a big hit?

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
The B6 was way more expensive & not significantly better for the extra cash.
The Samsung does a great job with movies in my opinion but the much talked about game mode doesn't perform anywhere near as good as I thought it was going to.
HDR is only apparent with the backlight maxed out but with this comes excessive light bloom on neons & whites with an unrealistic colour range.
If you reduce backlight it improves alot but HDR is starting to get lost.
HDR doesn't have anything to do with game mode.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

So no, the graphics don't take any hit whatsoever, they look great and the set performs fantastic in game mode, low lag is what game mode is supposed to deliver and that's what it does.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Again, game mode isn't about graphics or some special mode the TV does, it just removes all of the processing and allows for the lowest lag input.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Well of course looks are subjective. But game mode just turns off processing. So I suppose game mode could "look worse" but if that is the case that is more the person preferring processing and how it makes the picture look than the game mode degrading anything.
Unless of course, as you said, there is a bug or something physically wrong with the set. But in general game mode shouldn't degrade the actual graphics, it just removes the processing modes.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

I'm just saying we can't generalize that Game Mode doesn't do anything.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Well, my Game Mode doesn't allow me to adjust my 10-point white balance. I don't know if that's considered post-processing (I call it calibration tools), but when calibration tools are removed that means I'm not getting the most accurate picture I possibly can. Besides, my Game Mode forces me into the Standard picture preset, which actually does have different luminance than that of Movie, etc.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I personally think the biggest drawback with the ks8000/8500 is the motion response times. It's not bad, but isn't good either. Everything else is great..

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
Another issue with the ks8000/8500 is the backlight not automatically maxing out once you game in HDR. It works fine outside of game mode when you watch any HDR content. When In game mode you still have to manually go in and change the backlight and other settings you use during HDR gaming. People have been asking Samsung for months to fix it, but at this point I don't know if they will.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I got the ks8000 for gaming and don't really have any complaints with its motion response times. I did end up turning HDR off though because even though it looked really good, my PS4 screenshots would always be super dark. I tried changing some settings, but could never figure out how to get bright screenshots. With that said my games still look great without HDR, so I'm cool with it.
I've only watched one movie on it since I bought it six months ago and it looked great. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague
