Make sure you really do your due diligence on buying from a third party. I was set to buy from a place, did a bit of research and come to find out they were selling refurb units and ripping people off after they complained.

Run whatever place through multiple search engines and read reviews, esp check the ripoffreport.com

Do yall think an LG 55" oled for $1500 is realistic around Black Friday?

              Scott

I don't have time at the moment too look back at this thread for info but my roommate wants the ks8000. I told him he won't find it at big retailers and he wanted to know what the best couple of tvs are for gaming purposes this year.

I wanted to give him a couple options.

              Thank you

Your best bet is always checking rtings.com.

I think this year's KS8000 is Sony's x900e. I'd argue that it is refined version of that TV that Samsung failed to do with this year's MU8000.

I just bought the 49" a couple weeks ago, and it is fantastic. Kinda wish I'd spent the extra $200 for 55", but this appeased my wife more.

I've decided if I'm going to upgrade then I'm going to go big. I've deleted all the TV's I had on my wish list and left only one remaining and that's the LG C7P, right now it's at $3500 which I could pull the trigger on now but I'm going to wait it out until Black Friday to see if I can get a great deal on it. My TV shopping is over, this is the one I want and will get.

I would consider doing more research on possible "burn-in," "image retention," or whatever the proper terminology would be for OLED screens. Sure, one could probably take precautions and flip the channel and use the built in screen wipes or savers or whatever they're called, but just be cautiously mindful of real world experiences from owners of OLED sets. Google/Yahoo forum user experience with OLED.

As someone who strictly uses a 55" HDTV to do practically everything from watch sports, regular tv programming, computer web browsing (my computer is hooked up to my HDTV via an HDMI cable), a gaming monitor, etc, my biggest concern with OLEDs were potential burn-in/image retentions.

I was completely on board with OLED initially; have decided to simply stick with my LED. Don't really want to "baby" an OLED so to speak. I've had my LED Sony TV for probably over 7 years. Still works fantastic. If it last for the rest of my life, I'll just stick with it.

Most likely not going to be available any time soon, but the following looks fantastic (but also probably way too expensive) ....

I've had zero issues with burn in on my OLED. I haven't changed any of my tv or gaming habits either.

Like the poster above, I've changed nothing as far as my viewing habits are concerned since getting the E6 and have had zero issues. Way way overblown. I've even turned off the "Pixel Shift" feature that's supposed to mitigate burn in even further as the guys on the AVS forums strongly recommend doing so for performance with 24hz content.

The story with OLED is the same as it's been; if you can swing the price of admission you won't find anything better.
