Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

made probably my last upgrade/replacements of older equipment in my rig for a while.

Corsair H100i, replacing the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Corsair Vengeance C70 case, replacing the Corsair Carbide 500R

Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (4x8GB) (overkill for gaming, but useful for work), replacing the CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB)

Corsair AX860i 80 plus Platinum, replacing the XFX P1-750X-XXB9 80 plus Bronze

also picked up the Corsair Vengeance Airflow Memory Cooling Fan

I will probably take all the old parts and build up a 2nd PC with them now.

so now my system specs are

      CPU: I7-4770K
      CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i + 2 Corsair SP120
RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro
RAM cooler: Corsair Vengeance Airflow Memory Cooling Fan
      Mobo: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO
      GPU: ASUS MATRIX GTX980
      PS: Corsair AX860i
      Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 (black)
      case fans: 4 x Corsair SP120 on the Front(intake), 3 x Corsair AF140 on side/bottom panels(intake), 1 x Corsair AF120 on the back(exhaust)
SSD: SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250GB (boot drive)
Data 1: 2TB Seagate Barracuda (games)
Data 2: 1TB Seagate Barracuda (used to be game ISO backups of my discs, but I've moved those to my NAS)
Data 3: 1TB Seagate Barracuda (used to be my media drive, also on my NAS now)
CD/DVD: I thinks its an LG CD/DVD burner, don't think I've actually used it though.
      Monitors: 2 x ASUS VN247H-P
      Keyboard: Logitach G19
      Mouse: Logitech G600 MMO
      Mouse Pad: Logitech G440
      Wheel: Logitech G27
Headset: currently using the Corsair Vengeance 2100. I have a couple of Sound blaster headsets, but the mics suck on those.
Speakers: currently don't have any, use Headphones. need to look into getting some speakers.

really don't want to add it up and see what it cost altogether. most I got on sale anyway, but I know it'll be way up there.

At this time, I'd wait before buying a new computer anyway with AMD dropping their 3xx series and the 980TI coming out soon. Should drive down some prices a bit on the other cards.

I ended up moving back to the laptop front. Grabbed an Alienware 15 w a 980m. Very powerful little card. Missed the gaming while I traveled, so now I'm covered. For 1080p gaming, this should last a year or two.

Kinda tempted to see about returning my GTX 980 to Fry's and getting a Ti.

I'm shocked it's that low. It dropping before AMD's stuff really hurts them as well.

So my CPU keeps bluescreening when I'm trying to stream stuff. Any one know what may be going on?

That is such a broad issue you have to start looking at stats and logs.

First I'd start with running a CPU temp monitor, then put your PC under a load like ARMA or streaming. I know you were having crash issues just couple weeks ago. If your CPU maintains cool temps and is not over heating, I'd then move on to running a monitor of your GPU. If both check out then look at your event viewer to find out the issue windows is throwing. Next write down the error number the BSOD is throwing. You will have to play detective to find your problem, it could literally be anything from hardware to software.

The times it went to a blue screen I can't seem to find the error number.

I ran speccy and it turns out that my CPU is running hot. Im going to try to add more thermal paste and see if that fixes the problem.

Make sure to remove what is on there already. What method did you use the first time around to apply it? Make sure your CPU fan is blowing the right direction.

Yeah, and remember more paste is not always better. Just enough is the right amount. Any more and it's not as effective. A very thin layer between the cpu and cooler.
