Im still going to try to send it back in but good news is my Birthday is May 7th and a couple of my friends may be chipping in and getting me a replacement. Just wondering if I should still get the same one or something different. Thoughts?

Its funny because the last time I called Intel was transferring me around to other departments like a prostitute. Then I ended back at the first department in the end and they said about the whole paying for the stuff again. I do feel bad a bit because I tore into some of the reps at newegg though but man was I furious.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Oh okay cool and when what benefit would having 2 graphic cards do me? Also this build I'm looking at is from ibuypower so I wanted to ask did you build yours yourself?
Cuz I was just talking a friend of mine and he was telling me about a guy who just built him a 2000$ gaming PC. So, if I get some live help from this guy I will definitely think about going the custom built route.
as for 2 graphic cards, It'll depend on the resolution you want to use for gaming and whatever else you plan on doing. An AMD 7970 should be able to run just about any current game in 1080P(1920x1080) on highest graphic settings without any trouble. it's usually when or if you plan to run higher resolutions or span games on multiple monitors that'll want more multiple GPUs. It also depends on the game. some games don't see as much gain from multiple GPUs. for example, BF3 is more graphic intensive(than CPU) so you'll see a good gain from multiple cards. but a game like Skyrim, it's more CPU intensive, so you don't see much of a gain.
It all comes down to budget though. if you can afford a single high end card, it's usually better than 2 mid or 2 low end cards(which really wouldn't be worth it for 2 low end card) together. I would recommend a single good card though, unless you plan to go crazy with multiple monitors and/or resolutions. I typically play most games at 1920x1080 on 1 monitor, and a single AMD 7770 works just fine at highest settings for all the games I've tried, though I do wish I spend just a little more money on a slightly better GPU, but I just got a good deal on it so I went with it.Comment

Yeah you can. I briefly used two monitors with a 6950. I didn't like it for gaming with both at the same time because the bezels meet in the center and block your character but having a browser/chat window(s)/music or movie player on the second screen while I gamed was pretty neat.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
you mean for general use or performance in gaming with 2 monitors? for general use, I think most cards can do at least 2 monitors. for 3+ monitors I'll depend on the card brand and how they set up the card with the outputs and such. the card I have I think can have up to 6 monitors by daisy chaining through the Display Port output port, but I use the HDMI port for my main monitor, and DVI for secondary monitor when I want it on. I don't actually have any monitor or TV with a Display Port.
for gaming, it'll depend on the game and resolution you use.

Different, window shop Newegg for a good z77 board, then buy it from Amazon.Last edited by Candyman5; 04-10-2013, 01:08 AM.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
That Intel board was Z77.
Intel makes standard boards, think of them as a reference design that other companies take and modify to add in extra features, better power systems, etc. Just naming brands for you, look at well established brands like Asus, Gigabyte, or MSI.
Edit: Changed all those IBMs to Intel, not sure why I keep doing that, usually I catch them before I post.Last edited by Burns11; 04-10-2013, 02:57 AM.Comment

Yeah you can easily overclock a 7950 to give you basically the same performance as a stock 7970 or better. That said, the 7970 can be easily overclocked as well so it will always come out ahead but again, not by a huge amount.PS: You guys are great.
