Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
1. install drivers. use the CD that came with the motherboard and install the drivers that came with it(it'll usually have drivers for the chipset, audio drivers, ect..). For your graphics card, It'll probably be best to go to the ATI/AMD or Nvidia web site and download/install the latest drivers from them for your GPU model(though you may wait until you see step 2). you could do that for your motherboard stuff as well, but in my experience, it's not that important unless you have an issue that an updated driver fixed. Not sure what else you have, so you may or may not need to install driver for other things as well. you could check the device manager in control panel. it'll show you if there are anything that doesn't have any kind of driver installed(some things may have a generic driver)
2. If you don't have Windows 8, you'll want to install an anti-virus program(windows 8 has a built-in anti-virus program).
3. install programs that you may want/need. you'll probably need Adobe Flash and Java for starters as a lot of programs and/or websites use them. WinRAR is useful for unzipping just about any compressed or zipped files(though you could probably just hold off until you actually need it, not sure how often you would need it or not). other than that, I guess it'll depend on what you use. Most games will include anything that is required to run the game along with the installer so you should be good on that.

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm - if you have 64-bit OS, download the x64 version, and not the x86(it wouldn't break anything though).

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
you can, but they may be old drivers, and sometimes with newer card models, it's best to get the newest drivers as it'll help with performance.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
By too big do you mean the sides are getting cut off? Your TV should have a zoom setting, it might not be set to full, otherwise the graphics card should have a way to adjust desktop size and position.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
No as in to bid for the screen. Top and sides were farther than the screen. Updating the drivers worked though. I am not posting from my new beast gaming machine and installing Steam now.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
So guys, I am sick of console gaming as I can't even play for 10 minutes without turning the damn thing off. I'm looking to switch to PC gaming, and I don't know what I am doing. I want to build my computer but I have no idea on how to or what to get.
All I really plan on playing is NBA 2K13, FIFA, and maybe a few FPS's on Steam.
Can someone please try to help me? I'm sick of this console gaming, PC gaming looks much better.Boston Celtics
