It's way more clean and you only have the cables you need. Shows how much I paid attention to that.
That is great because if your power supply does die you can go and buy the exact same brand and line of power supply and not have to re-run everything. The key being the same brand name and model though as sometimes they are not interchangeable from one company to another.

I know because when I built this PC I'm typing right now to you on the build all worked for a brief period and then shut down and the power supply was faulty.

One quick trip to Best Buy, bought the same brand (not the same wattage though, I got a higher wattage as it was all Best Buy had) swapped out the main power supply and I was up and running.

Saved me about 15 minutes of futzing with the cable connections!!

Speaking of power supplies, I had to replace mine 2 months ago because my old one ball bearing broke and the fan just made this god awful very loud rattling noise. It lasted for years so I wasn't upset that it finally gave way. I ended up buying an eco fan one where the fan only comes on when you are at 60% or higher load. I love it because unless I am heavy gaming it is totally quiet. I also went from semi modular to fully modular. I don't recommend fully modular, well maybe it is just this power supply, but the cables aren't long like they are in semi modular.

So the EVGA 1080 SC Gaming is on sale for $450 at Newegg right now... I have a couple days left in my 30-day window to return my 1070ti to Microcenter...

Debating on whether or not it's worth that whole process. But the end result is a 1080 for about $30 less than what I'd bought my EVGA1070ti ftw 2 for.

I'm in same boat, but I'm getting rock stable clocks at 2025mhz. My frames are pretty good in everything I play currently and I know the up & coming games the 1070 ti will handle fine. The 1080 is the tad more powerful card but I'm not going through the process for a 10 to 15 frame increase. Now for me it would be an even wash, I paid $450 for my 1070 Ti. But a $30 dollar return and the performance gain, I'd bite the bullet and do it.

Ahhh you're no help! Lol. It's not even about getting the $30 back - it's about staying as far ahead of the curve as possible for the future, with the bonus being an extra $30 in my pocket.

And I'm with you, everything I'm running on the 1070ti runs well and stable. I just don't want to miss out on a better card while I have the small window to take advantage.

Yep if you can exchange it and it won't cost you, get the better & more powerful card. Maybe it buys you 6+ months to a year in the future where it is still usable vs needing to upgrade sooner.

So let me tell you my friend..

You have posted multiple times about buyers remorse and going back getting the GTX 1080.

I did the SAME EXACT thing about when I bought my Ryzen chip and regretted not getting the much better gaming intel.

Well, long story short, I took out my CPU, motherboard, AND ram and got my intel and my nice 16GB sticks.

I sleep better, I feel better, I game better. Just do it.

Haha you guys are great. Dealing with my indecisiveness and insatiable appetite and still giving me the correct advice. I am going to swap them, doesn't make sense not to.

Luckily Microcenter will price match and has the card in stock. I'll miss out on the extra $20 off but to get it all done in one transaction is worth it to me. Even at a wash it makes sense to do it.

Pretty happy I went back for the 1080. Took a good night and a half to get my driver's reinstalled and settings setup but I'm good to go now. Resting easier lol

Lol if the 1080ti falls into the same price range you're damn right I'll be back!

Not worried about the 1180 or any of the new series because I know they'll be out of my price range.
