Haha. That's the thing. Most of the house's don't. And really we don't need it 90% of the year. It's just been stupid hot the last few weeks. We did have a portable AC that you hook the hoses up to the window. That worked pretty well. But the wife loaned it to her pregnant friend last year during the summer and I fear we will never see it again. Man she gets on me for buy stuff but that thing cost $400, we used it maybe 20 times in 3 years, and then she basically gives it away. At least the stuff I get I use the hell out of it lol.

Still looking for a decent gaming / video editing (not Adobe) computer that's not gonna break my bank. I got back into Steam gaming somewhat, but I don't need the games to be on ultra-high settings (my 25" HP monitor is decent though..... can handle 1920 X 1080). I don't need all the bells and whistles and the latest, just something better than what I've been running for way too long now.

I know there will probably be more end of year sales, but wondering what you guys think of this deal. It would be $50/mth for 12 months from Office Depot.

      Dell™ Inspiron Desktop PC, AMD Ryzen™, 8GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, Windows® 10 Home, 5675

I would probably eventually add an SSD or another small 7200 rpm HDD to play older games that Windows 10 can no longer do. I would probably try to get this up to 16 GB of RAM as well.

Looks great for the price, but you definitely need to upgrade the ram if you are going to be video editing.

I would check with Dell before buying it from Officedepot. Put it in your cart and then chat and/or call them. Tell them about the price and see if they can beat it. If you do their financing you usually get an additional discount, plus $ to spend at Dell.

Me personally I'm not paying $50 a month for 12 months for a $550 PC. Especially not from Office Depot. If you want to go the monthly payment route, then buying directly from Dell would be better, because they have a much bigger selection for the same price point.

Thanks for the tips gents. Not sure why I haven't considered it as I have bought online from Dell online before.

Addendum: Dell really had nothing comparable on their site at this time. I may just bite the bullet and wait until the end of year sales and try to get a Ryzen 7 with 16 GB and a decent graphics card.

If it was me, I'd go thru NZXT. I priced it out and they are super good price wise. Many of the parts are cheaper under them than they are on Newegg so the $90 build fee ends up almost being a wash. You get to build exactly what you want with a great looking case, PLUS a 2 year warranty & a FPS guarantee!

At NZXT, we believe anyone can be a PC gamer. Explore the best gaming PCs, from high-performance prebuilts and custom builds to FLEX subscription rentals. I’ll second the NZXT Build option. If I didn’t go ahead and build my own I would have gone with them.

So I'm going to bite the bullet and get rid of the Thermaltake Water 3.0 AIO and go back to air. Going to go with the Noctua NH-D15.

So if anyone is interested in basically a brand new AIO, shoot me a PM. I'll be throwing in up on Ebay in next week or so, I'd rather hook up a fellow OS member than a rando.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

So just an update on my freezing issue.

I mentioned a bit ago I was having random hard freezes on my brand new (self built) PC. You guys helped a lot and I chased my tail around for awhile.

Everything seemed to check out. RAM, drivers, mobo, temps, seating, etc.

I started to think it must be the MB or my power supply. Both are very good. Z370 Taichi and a EVGA 750 gold modular. I just had a hard time thinking these failed.

What I did change was my old Surge Protector to a new APC battery backup AND moved it to a different socket in my office.

So far (3 days with gaming and me stress testing the 1080ti a bit) it has been rock solid.

I googled a bit and there seems to be some info about Bad wall power causing issues. I’m not sure if it was the old surge protector or the outlet.

Anyway thanks for your guys help along the way, and maybe this will help someone else.

Wow, good to know, I have always gotten a UPS/Line conditioner because I've read about issues like that. However, when I read your post I never even considered that.

Im hoping the PC keeps playing nicely. If it freezes again my next step is total wipe than a replace of the PSU/MB, which I really don’t want to do.

That is the problem with that sort of issue, you can't do anything but use the thing and hold your breath for a while..

Sold off a couple parts from my first build and rebuilt my rig in a new case a couple months ago. After building my first one two years ago, I had the itch to build again so decided to do the rebuild.
