Hoping the new line drops the the 1050ti in price or the rumored 1050ti equivalent comes out. Would breathe new life into my home theater/light gaming PC.

Micro Centers routinely have the 8700k at 299$ as well. If you are near one go in! Great stores.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
An Xbox One X GPU is basically a AMD RX 480 or Nvidia 1060 (XBox One X GPU is 11% faster than an RX 480. So in gaming terms, damn near all new GPU's are faster than an Xbox One X lol
RX 580
Vega 56
Vega 64
GTX 1060 6Gb
GTX 1070
GTX 1070 Ti
GTX 1080
GTX 1080 Ti
Now for your question, the 970 you currently have would run comparable frame rate wise with an RX 480 which is on the low side of gaming GPU's. An RX 480 runs in the $200 range while a mid range card will run $350s (1070) and high end cards start around $450 (1070ti & 1080) Yet that is in a perfect environment, you have other issues.
1) Your running an 8 year old CPU, your proc speeds are slower than the Xbox One X and will be the bottle neck point. This will cause your frames to be lower than what the 970 can theoretically do.
2) Your GTX 970 GPU only has 4GB of ram, where the Xbox One X is using a combination of 12 GBs shared via GPU and system. A GPU in this day and age under 6GB just won't cut it anymore. You need minimum of 16GB system memory and 8GB GPU memory in 2018.
So my point, you could upgrade your GPU and your frames would increase but your selling the hardware short because your bottle necking at the CPU. You need a Proc, Mobo, Ram, GPU, rebuild in my opinion.
while i dont disagree with you i can justify the upgrade
esp now with the new rtx's which would have to get a new cpu for anyway
I think ill go for what i can now
a 1070
try that out if madden doesnt perform well with it(to at least a point im happy) i'll return it geta xbox one x and a 4k tv which is a setup ive wanted since last dec
a new cpu with say a rtx might run me over 2000 when an xbox and a tv would be much less and this way i got a new tv l which ive been meaning to get
I just LOVE resahde though makes all the games on pc look better anywayBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

PC isn't more cost effective than console when it comes to hardware, naturally consumers are not getting the cost discount pre-built & console manufactures are getting. Where PC makes up for it, options(Discord, Multi-tasking, Multi-monitor, Mouse & Keyboard) and the price of games. Generally speaking you can run an in-between build upgrade keeping your CPU and motherboard while only doing a GPU or RAM upgrade. This can expand a full build out a few years.
My general upgrade goes something like this.
Full new build
3 Years later do a GPU Upgrade
3 Years later do a full build
Last build my CPU lasted 6 years while my GPU I upgraded every 3 years.
So my recommendation, if you are anticipating doing a new full build with a RTX graphic card within the foreseeable future then I'd wait and wouldn't grab a 1070. I'd go X1X and let that hold you over until your ready to go all in on a new PC.Last edited by Phobia; 08-21-2018, 03:15 PM.Comment

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
I run a 1070 Ti and I have Madden on Ultra with everything on and it runs very smooth. I'd guess a 1070 would handle it fine, my only area of concern would be your CPU.

I’m super curious to see these things benchmarked in real world scenarios.
Will be interesting to see how much more powerful they are in standard gaming and what kind of FPS they can pull with the ray tracing enabled.
What do you guys think is acceptable with ray tracing? I have a feeling 60 will be the absolute top and I’m not really sure that is going to happen.
Will be interesting.

Right now I'm gonna just use it on the 65 OLED. I can't justify buying a $1500 monitor w 240hz refresh rates. I think I'll be fine playing on the OLED for now. Eyeing a 4k projector too.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread
Don't see much sense in upgrading from my 1080 so I'm gonna upgrade everything else instead I think...
I want a much smaller case than the one I have now, I'm thinking the Fractal Define Nano S, with an 8700k, Z730-I, new DDR4 RAM, a Cryorig C7. Just need to figure out the PSU, the one I have now is the Corsair HX1000 and I don't think it will fit, I've already got my storage and peripherals as well.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Well guys I did it again. Jumped on the EVGA 1080ti SC2 from B+H last night. $599 total, free shipping and no tax. All told I'm spending $90 more than I did for the 1070ti I initially bought a month and a half ago.
I have problems.

Going to wait for other people to test it, but if this holds true.....WOW. Straight out the box RTX 2080.

It’s all good now. You’re set for awhile with an amazing card. There’s no way a 2080ti is double the performance.
