I mean the graphics are jaw dropping. I mean absolutely off the hook, I've never seen anything like the graphics I saw last night. Diablo, Starcraft II, Battlefield 1, FIFA 18, The Witcher 3 are the games I checked out...

Although the resolution is 2K versus 4K on the consoles I think the games look far, far, far superior on the PC due to the ability to run with much more detail (anti-aliasing) and way higher frame rates. I mean just the level of detail, even in Diablo, the old assed Diablo looks amazing when you up the supersampling levels!!

Now...no, I'm not converted to the "PC MASTER RACE" lol, I still say I find it more enjoyable to game on a huge TV screen in an easy chair so I still will probably be more of a console guy. And computers are just too expensive for most people to game on them. The price-value ratio is way off.

But I'm going to really enjoy what I can on the PC that is different from console gaming. Hopefully as long as my new machine with the 1080 EVGA lasts me for playing without having to upgrade again.

So with that being said, can you guys offer me direction on PC game experiences that are fantastic that I CANNOT enjoy on the console?

Honestly spend some more money and get a Rift. You have a good enough rig to supersample most games, and VR really is just incredible.

If you like flight sims pick up IL2 Sturmovik and be prepared to be blown away.

Thanks, I'll check out the IL2 game, I want VR but my wife would kill me, wasn't real happy about me buying a monitor that "looks the exact same as the other monitors" LOL... Will have to wait awhile on that one.

You guys know anything about Ancestors Legacy and whether or not its worth $40? It looks amazing!!

Thanks for all the suggestions! These all look great, esp Arma 3 and Pillars of Eternity II, wow! When I was watching the Arma 3 video I actually thought it was the real military for a second, until I remembered what I was watching, Jeesh...

Anyone built a box just to be a game server? I'm thinking Minecraft and some flavor of the month stuff like Age of Conan currently.

I'm pretty sure my old e6600 with some more ram and a new HDD would cut it, but just wondering if others have any experience with such a build.

I've debated it, since most my old stuff gets put on a shelf and never used again after an upgrade, but I didn't want to attempt it and it not be strong enough.

Let me know if you do, I'd be interested to hear how powerful of a rig is needed.

So turns out when I do serious gaming my UPS at 450v does not have enough power. I'm pulling about 160 watts in Windows but when I fire up some real games it shoots up to 330 watts and my UPS alarm goes off.

Guess I'll have to be looking for a new UPS at about 1500v next pay..

I have I think a 1200v for my TV, DVR, Router, and AVR. Over powered for that, but will run for a few hours if needed.

For the PC, you may want to check what SINE it can handle. The wave can effect the newer PSU, so make sure to check that out.

Yeah thanks I plan to get one that supports the PURESINE as I read that's what modern PCs need

What do you guys use for CPU Coolers? I picked up a H60 whenI did my 8700K build and am not sure how good it handles OCing. Seems like i should have gone with a 240mm option...

This is what I'm running on my Ryzen 1700. It's not even a year old yet, but so far I haven't had any issues. My temps are low, it's pretty quiet, and installed very easy. If the pump holds out for many years I'll be a happy camper.

I use Arctic Esport 33 on my 8600k. Works perfect.

I’m still afraid of water cooling as I couldn’t afford to fix anything if it leaked. Lol.

I use the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Universal CPU Cooler, works great and is only $31. I read a lot about coolers and this was a very widely used one that is good if you don't want to spend a lot of money.

I can speak to the Cooler Master Hyper 212 as I used it for 6 years in my old build.

I went with the CRYORIG H7 for my new build. They're comparable in price and functionality.
