You don't think the manufacturer's site doesn't have the manual on it?

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

I built my own PC about a year ago and ran into an issue the other day. My sound doesn't work, the bottom right corner has a red X over the speaker icon and says "The Audio service is not running". I went to my motherboard website and downloaded new drivers but that didn't fix it. I also cannot open the Control Panel. When I try, it gives me the spinning circle and I can't close it unless I go into the task manager and force close it. Any ideas?

Unintstall the audio drivers first then restart. That sometimes will make the default drivers reinstall themselves but usually that or rebooting usually fix sound issues

I uninstalled all of them from the device manager screen. I restarted my computer, the two came back on the list afterwards but I still get the same error.

Try a system restore to a few days ago....no idea why you can't open your control panel

For the control panel issue, try booting into safe mode, to see if you can get into it. If you can, run a virus aND malware scan from within safe mode.

It's not that hard like it was in the 90's where you had to worry about stupid jumpers on the motherboard, can build these in my sleep.

I'm debating on it, but I have a hard time paying full price for a PC game. Not to mention a PC game I already paid full price for one.

I think I will wait for the modding community to get there hands on it and the price to drop at least a little bit.

It didn't take much to convince myself to go ahead and get it.

So does the Xbox One Headset work through the controller if you are the type who likes to use a gamepad instead of keyboard & mouse?

What kind of resale value is there on graphic cards?

I have been thinking about upgrading from a 7870, but not if the resale value on it is only $50 or something like that - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125418

It was $309 new wayyyy back in 2012. Must still be somewhat decent as it's on the "recommended" spec sheet for GTA.

Quick look on ebay shows the price range from $51(starting bids) to $150(buy it now) for used Gigabytes. It's still a good card for 1080p. Upgrading shouldn't be too necessary unless you're looking to play it higher than that.

Finally got my R9 280X today and installed it with no hitches.

I put 2k15 on and rwn everything on high default no changes and it ran like butter like its nothing.

I am curious though is it possible that using particular cables can cause th kinds of issues i had with the 7950?

Not like busted cables but the ones I used for that card basically plugged right into the power supply itself. Just wondering if that's possible because this one installed and played like you'd expect.

                              You mean the power connecters?

They should be the same as the ones you used for the 7950 if you're using the same PSU, are they not?

It could be a problem if you don't have the right connectors but in your case I don't think it was the cables, I think there was a problem with the card itself.

Yep that was what i used and the other end directly to the PSU which looked similar to that as well but were blue.

With this there are already cables coming from the PSU that these wires are connected to which has the thin male to female clear/white to black connection .

I believe it was a card problem as well though.
