I really like Halo's checkpoint system. It feels just right to me. There are enough of them to prevent frustration, but it still forces you to complete tough battles before you get a checkpoint. CoD3 on the other hand had a TERRIBLE checkpoint system. But that is off topic . . .

While I like Bioshock's "Save anytime" system, I only like it in certain games. Mostly games that deal with alot of inventory and exploration. Bioshock, Oblivion, etc. Even then, I find myself just saving all the time, before any battle, before I "try something risky", etc., and the game just turns into a lot of saving and loading, not much challenge and ultimately, it kills my sense of accomplishment. With Halo's system, I still fell tense before a big confrontation and a bigger sense of satisfaction when I manage to pass it and get that checkpoint, than if I would have been saving after each kill.

I noticed that there's some downloadable game types that say "recommended for play on the Seven Seas map."

What is Seven Seas? Is it DLC or future DLC?

It looks like Seven Seas is a map that you can download from bungie.net. You can find the Halo 3 shared files and all the community map variants by clicking on the Bungie Online tab on their website. From there, whatever you pick will be queued for download the next time you sign into Xbox live while playing Halo.

For the guys complaining about pressing the d-pad to talk have you checked out the other control options?

I personally use Bumper Jumper because it allows me to aim my melee attack, and snipe reasonably well.

But there is a setting to have the Left Button become your push to talk button.

I can easily adjust to the d-pad...for me it's more the concept of pushing a button on principle...I mean no other shooter does it. I can deal, I remember disliking this in Halo 2 as well, never going to change I just disagree with their design.

In Halo 2 I used green thumb because I like to aim my melees and I just had to tap B to zoom.

With Bumper Jumper, the zoom button is still the click of the right stick, right bumper is melee (very easy to aim with) and jump is left bumper. The jump really isn't important to me, but I can live with it because I can now zoom without taking my thumb off the right stick and melee without having to use my thumb on B.

It feels more natural to me.

But there are a lot of control settings, you will probably find one that suits your needs.

Would anyone be interested in a Halo 3 photomode competition? People would submit their screen shots that they have taken, then we could put them in a poll and people would vote for their favorite.
