So I have what seems to be a issue...

I finished a career a while ago with my 56 level soldier. I wanted to get in to 60 before ME2 came out but I can't when I go to start new career. It only allows me to play as a new character from level 1 and can't start a new character with that character.

Now I know my profile is still here because if I go to the load screen and go to switch careers, a save with level 56 and my name appears. Has all the correct information but I can't use it.

I really wanted to use this character in ME2 and now I'm not sure if I can. Looks like I might have to create another solider like him... any ideas here?

it's strange. I haven't played Mass Effect in nearly 6 months until today. I tried to start a new career and continue with an old character to see how many would show up, none of my previous character's end-game state were there either. i just use the last save for that character and beat the ending again.

I'm using the same hard drive as well.

anyway, I think I'm going to end up getting ME2 on PC, so I'll probably see if i can find a PC copy of ME somewhere cheap and do a run through on PC before getting ME2.

If I beat the game and then purchase the DLC, can I play the DLC in the same playthrough? Or will I have to start a new playthrough?

Have to start over. As long as you haven't gone to Ilos yet you can purchase it and play it before beating the game.

Thanks. It's been so long since i first beat the game, I don't remember where Ilos is. I'm assuming it's right after Virmire.

Yup that's it,well it's after the first 4 planets actually. You can do Virmire before whatever other planet there is. In fact doing Noveria,Feros and Virmire before Therum results in some pretty funny scenes with Liara,particularly with the renegade path.

She thinks everyone is a hallucination when you get there and won't change her mind on it until you get her out. Then on the ship because Sheppard already knows everything and Liara is all "I spent 10 years of research and you get everything just handed to you like that?! That's not fair!" and the renegade reply is "Quit complaining or I'll throw your *** back into that volcano!"

The two Mass Effect DLCs, Bringing Down The Sky, and Pinnacle Station are 240 MS points each this week for Xbox Live deal of the week. They are normally 400 points each.

Also..I just finished Feros yesterday night..def my favorite planet so far...going off to Ilos(or whatever ) next time I get on..

I just started replaying this today to get ready for ME2 and forgot why this was my favorite nextgen game.

It's too damn good. Though going up another 5 levels to get to 60 is going to be tough since I've done most of the game and am at such a high level.

However, I haven't done any sidequests since 2 play throughs ago, so if anyone can point me towards some experience-heavy sidequests I'd be appreciative.

BDTS was cool....but ive heard nothing good about Pinnacle station....is it even worth 240?

Pinnacle Station sucked, it seems like they just put it out because they promised more than one DLC thing.

Yeah, it's very watered down compared to the rest of the game. Little to no story and just seems rushed.

I liked the first DLC a lot though.

BTW the news of only the first 11 playthroughs can be used in ME2 is FALSE. The Dev that posted it the first tie corrected himself in the forums.
