    Re: Mass Effect Discussion

Started a new game from scratch today as an Infiltrator, with the goal of using THIS character in the sequel...and quickly noticed one of my pet peeves.

I usually play with subtitles on and progress quickly through the dialogue, as I read faster then they speak. Yet, in Mass Effect, if I progress too fast with the "X" button, I sometimes hop through the dialogue choices as they pop up at different points in each conversation.

So, instead of listening to the BCS game (or other shows), I have to leave the game on my home theater, and selectively choose when to skip the dialogue. AND I have to save much more frequently than I'm used to.

Oh well, it's still a great game, and I really want my character to have a "me" type background, as opposed to the pure Paragon or Renegade archetype.

I found that a good way to avoid this is to push the thumb stick up so the dialogue selection arrow points straight up(if that makes any sense), so when you are pressing x, none of the dialogue choices are selected.

So I have what seems to be a issue...

I finished a career a while ago with my 56 level soldier. I wanted to get in to 60 before ME2 came out but I can't when I go to start new career. It only allows me to play as a new character from level 1 and can't start a new character with that character.

Now I know my profile is still here because if I go to the load screen and go to switch careers, a save with level 56 and my name appears. Has all the correct information but I can't use it.

I really wanted to use this character in ME2 and now I'm not sure if I can. Looks like I might have to create another solider like him... any ideas here?

Load the first character save,do the ending again and then try?

Level 56 means you already played that character twice right? I'm pretty sure it won't let you play through 3 times with the same character. If your profile is still there, it should still be available for ME2 I would think. To be honest, I don't think the difference between 56 and 60 will amount to too much for ME2 bonuses.

why do you think you can't play through three times? I am pretty sure you can.

are you using the same hard drive as the one you finished your level 53 character on?

Yeah, I'm not worried not about the bonuses as now I'm worried if I can even use this save for ME2. I started a new play through with a soldier last night just to get a similar save going with similar decisions.

                          Yep.

It's odd as the character is there but I can't do anything with it.

I thought I read a long time ago that you couldn't...that is was capped at two playthroughs. I guess I'm wrong though?

If that's the case, then I'm not sure what the issue would be.

EDIT: To Altimus: does nothing at all appear under "play existing ID" (or whatever the menu header is) or does that menu option not even show up?

I played through 3 times. I was at level 59 after 2 + the new DLC came out.

Your new character won't be capped at 50 as they normally would. Mine wasn't at least. I'm at level 53 on a first playthrough with a character. Doubt I could get to 60 though.

Yeah, I just finished a first play through at 56 and did about everything humanly possible within the game. The XP jump in the fast four levels is crazy.
