Me too, but I doubt they'd put any music like that in the game. I"m sure they will just continue to put out crappy rock songs no one's ever heard of.

Wonder why they don't add more "popular" songs? Either way it's a blast.

I wouldn't mind some country and some early rock from the 50's!

Trying to rent RB1 and Blockbuster told me they don't carry RB...hmm

When looking at the playlists. They have items beside the songs IE Drums, Bass etc... (I think) Anyway, it has circles by the songs. Some are dark, some are not... what does it mean?

Also, when playing the drums and you get the bolded lines and every color is like that, what does that mean?

And, when I get up to 4X what do I do? Isn't there something to do to get more points? I remember something in Guitar Hero. What about with the drums and Mic?

I have no idea why they don't pick more popular songs. I often wonder that too. The popular ones they do have sold the best so far. I've only bought 2 full packs. (The Who and Offspring even then with The Who there's some less popular ones while popular ones were left out)

I hope the country is Johnny Cash,I might buy whatever it is anyway just to have something different. They said there'd be reggae and funk coming soon in the IGN interview before RB 2 came out...not soon enough apprently.

Those dots are telling you the difficulty of the song. All empty circles are easy, 5 black circles is the middle I guess, and 5 red devils means it is super hard. At least that's how I read it.

The colored areas in the drum notes are drum fills. You can do whatever you want in that are, it won't hurt or help you. If you hit the green note at the end you go into overdrive (like tilting the guitar).

The 4x is your point multiplier by hitting lots of notes in a row. On guitar it can get up to 4x. When you go into overdrive your point multiplier doubles.

They don't pick the most popular songs because they aren't always the most fun songs to play. They try and get songs that appeal to all four parts of the band, not just one.

Frankly, I'm glad. Why would I want only popular songs? I'd rather be introduced to new stuff and still have fun. Sure, there's some popular songs I'd love by bands we already have (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Whip It, any Foreigner song (master of course), etc) but I wouldn't change a single thing HMX does when selecting their music.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I think alot of people are really missing out by not giving songs a chance. They just assume it sucks and don't give it a listen. Hell, there are songs that I don't particularly 'love' but they are crazy fun to play.

And Dookie, odds are that we won't see any 50's stuff since it's damn near impossible to have any usable master tracks (back then, they mixed multiple instruments on a single track). So if we ever did see stuff, it would be covers and it seems like they've gone away from covers for good.

Also, you need to have the overdrive meter (under the chart) atleast halfway full (must hit all white notes in order to gain overdrive) and then you tilt the chart. You don't have to have 4x in order to use it. If you don't need it to not fail a song, try and use it during a part of the song that has the most notes, so your score will be higher.

While I completely agree with you, there are some great popular songs out there that are very fitting for this game that they have yet to look into. Alter Bridge still, to this very day, comes to mind. 3 Doors Down has plenty of great songs that would work as well.

But nooooooo, we get Visions instead...

hey dookie none of the blockbuster by my house had it neither. But what I did was I purchased it at amazon.com used for like $13.99. Eitherway to rent a game now is like 8 bucks so.

We get Visions because it's a completely new genre and Abnormality is a HMX band. So it actually makes sense.

The thing is, there are so many songs out there that they can only do so much. It's incredible to think how long rhythm gaming can last since there's basically an infinite amount of music available. Their goal was over 500 songs by the end of 2008 and they'll surpass that and you know that we'll easily have 1,000-1,500 songs by the end of 2009.

I suppose you're right, especially when making it analogous to something like movies. If you are only working with so much material, don't just bunch your best stuff first and leave us with sour stuff later, if that makes sense. That's why I'm disappointed in all of these superhero movies being released at the same time, as well as these remakes. Where will these be 10 years from now?

You have to assume that will have a Rock Band 3. Normally you try and save some of the better stuff for on disc so that people will buy it. Hence why we probably didn't get Smells Like Teen Spirit in the Nirvana pack. It'd be best used to lure people into RB3. Just my assumption.

I really think that we've gone a long ways from November. They would've never dared put in a song without one instrument. They've done that with YYZ and soon to be Rude Mood by SRV. We're getting Polly tomorrow which literally has four cymbal hits in the entire song. We got a ballad last week with Without You by the Crue. We're getting 10+ minute songs with The Camera Eye.

Songs that were previously ruled out are now being included. If they include Country, that's something else we can see.

Maybe I'm just addicted/obsessed but I'm just so excited for what this game has done and will continue to do. We'll continue to see larger packs and full albums.

This game = all win.

You activate overdrive when you have enough stored energy to do so. When you are playing guitar, bass, or drums there is a yellow meter filling up at the bottom of the board. It fills up when you successfully hit the string of white notes (and fill it faster by using the whammy bar on long guitar notes). When that meter is half full it glows some which means you can activate your overdrive. You know you are in overdrive because the fretboard glows yellow.

With drums, you are ready to activate overdrive when you get those multi-color fills. At the end of the fill you hit the green to start the overdrive and the background will color yellow.

For vocals, a section of yellow will appear in the middle of all the words at the top of the screen, yell anything during this time and it activates overdrive.
