I figured violent and some language. But really no C bombs..please. LOL

It brings up an interesting point. What if Rockstar was able to include a censor option?
So all swear words were bleeped out?

I could imagine clueless parents buying all sorts of Rockstar games then the kids turn off the swear filter and the parents go ape.

        Yeah....that'd be interesting

If you could beep the cursewords or take them out, you still have the crazy violence, which is just as bad.

Eh, I don't think it's the violence alone that gets people on edge but rather the mix of violence, mature themes AND cursing. In our culture violence isn't the worst thing in the world which is the opposite of European culture where violence is reviled but sexuality is quite open.

It's the heavy cursing, sex on tables, and nudity that's probably keeping me from getting the game more than the violence.

But I'm saying, if your kid walks in and hears a curse word or saw you blow someones head off, is one really that much worse than the other?

Yep I can certainly see that. I'm a little disappointed that R* seems to be pushing the envelope with those elements in a WESTERN of all things. I know they're trying to make it gritty and "realistic" but I grew up on and still watch a ton of westerns that aren't nearly this graphic and salty in language.

Needless to say if I do buy the game I won't have the problem of kids being around me.

Agree, but my wife is less likely to ever say anything to me about a guy getting shot, than if she heard my character calling women C bombs. That's a word I've never even said let alone care to hear in a game. That's just my disappointment with it.

R* violence is usually quite tame from GTA, so I don't expect it to be very graphic. The language is what kills it for me.

I'm still getting it, and will play it late at night, just bummed that they turned it into that.

It depends on the type of violence for me. I don't mind people getting shot and some blood splatter, I don't like bloody mutilations and gore. Games like Uncharted and Assassin's Creed (the blood in this one was borderline some times) are the level of cursing and blood that I'm good with. Games like God of War is too much, I'm interested in seeing where this game falls.

I don't have any kids around either, but still, I play games right in the living room and I wouldn't like playing a game with too much M-rated stuff going on around my wife.

I am with Dookie. I have a 4 year old who loves playing games and all my gaming time with M rated games is done when he is in bed or not in the house. Cartoon violence is one thing but I don't need him seeing a "realistic" portrayal of it.

And I don't understand why people are shocked this stuff is in a western? Ever see some of the old Eastwood movies?

so much changes when we have kids. I play gta when the kids are in bed or not in the room. I don't know what's worse at times the language or the violence. Gta is tame compared to this game. It bugs me quite a bit because my son loves cowboys and horses, so he will see the box for when I get this and want to watch me play except I have to break the news it's not for kids.

                            Re: Red Dead Redemption

there is a reason they have a ratings system. a game like this is rated appropriately

                            MATURE
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

C word or not, this game is not for kids

If I have kids, I'll raise them the same as I was raised.

they can play/watch whatever they want. I'm not talking about a 6 year old, but like if I had a 12 year old I'b buy the game for him if he wanted it (as a birthday present or christmas etc.)

I was always allowed to watch movies with my parents no matter the rating except for one because it was getting a little too crazy (blue velvet, scene with Dennis Hopper going absolutely banana's with that girl)
nudity and swearing or violence didn't matter. I used to watch Conan a few times every week.

I think the key was they were in the room too when I was younger and pointed out very clearly fiction and reality etc.

I'm not saying others should do that too, just that it worked out for me - actually I'm probably a little too empathetic. I also studied this briefly in University too. The only negative consequence of videogames IMO is increased sedentary lifestyle.

Exactly the same with me. I was told the difference between real-life and a video game for example, and I had no problems with playing M rated games at a very young age.

But once I started playing Sonic at 3 years old, there was no stopping me from then
