The random encounters and dungeons in this game are what make it so awesome.

I dropped into some cave, Mara Tears or something, just east of Windhelm and I killed two bandits in there. Or at least I thought they were bandits, but apparently they were Vampires. Glad I killed those bastards before they had the chance to attack me.

The randomness combined with the uniqueness of each location is what makes it stand out from anything I've ever played before. Each redoubt, mine, settlement, dungeon, etc. are all different then the previous ones I've been in.

The Mage's College questline in Winterhold was awful. Easily the worst environments I've seen in the game and for whatever reason, half of the missions have you go through a long *** dungeon, then walk all the way backwards to get out. They fixed that in every other quest but for some reason they left it in for that group of quests. I'm just glad that I'm done with it now.

Is it wrong that I wanted to murder mostly everyone at the Mage's College?

Part of the issue with the framerate could be the numerous amounts of saves people are making. Each save file is about 5 megs early on , and can grow exponentially. Two of my 3 characters save files are at 10 megs now, you take take and add a lot of constant saving, which many players do with this game, and you can get 50+ (maybe even more) save files of 10 megs plus, clogging everything up.

While I'm on the 360, I run about 5 saves. I blame it on playing games on the PS2 back in the day, where I would also be sure to have backup save files. All of them are 11-12 mb or so, and no slowdown except when tons of stuff is on screen.

I've had a couple of freezes, but those are expected from a pre-patch Bethesda game.

It's kind of funny, I saw some place that looked cool and interesting and went to check it out.

2 bears, 4 sabercats, 2 skeletons and a dragon later, and I was amazed that I somehow still survived. BTW, yes, I fought them all at the same time. Absolutely crazy.

No clue how on earth you handled two bears at the same time. I have a hard enough time with 1 friggin bear. I had two at the same time, I had to find a pedestal/rock to jump on top of, and snipe them one at a time. Those guys are relentless, and QUICK.

The dragon lighting everything on fire that got near me was a bonus.

I forgot, some bandit randomly came over and tried to kill me too.

Molag Bal's house, to the Sanguine Rose, I'm having fun. It was fun to actually get to meet Sanguine face to face after a night of mad drinking with him. Not to mention seeing your old pal Sheogorath in his Alice in Wonderland setting.

Nocturnal's entrance was the best.

They had shortcuts to get out of the mages dungeons.

There were shortcuts for a couple of them but the longest ones had no other way out, or they were really all hidden. I had no problem finding the shortcuts in any other area and even clairvoyance just told me to go backwards.

I dont' see why not. You'll probably have to make use of sneaking and backstab attacks though.

My save file is close to 8MB and I've noticed a decline in performance. It's still playable for me, but there's definitely some more stuttering than before. Turning auto-saves off helped a bit.

Why would the amount of saves mess with framerate?

A good question to ask Bethesda since PS3 users have ran into this very same issue since Oblivion.

You have some on the official forums spending $100+ for a solid-state drive to put in their PS3.

I dont' see why not. You'll probably have to make use of sneaking and backstab attacks though.

Pretty much this...I have a stealth character thats like this. Poisons help in damage...and some smithing helps to get better bows and daggers...
I joined the Dark Brotherhood for some sneaking light armor, and i keep Lydia or another companion around to divide attention in tougher fights.

Edit: Playing on normal though, almost Lvl 30? A good part of the main story done too...

This game is quite literally brilliant. Now that I've sorted the crashes to desktop I am in RPG heaven. I feel like booking a week off work and playing for 8 hours a day.

Level 19 with a thief/archer... sneaking and alchemy are important because you really need your first shot(s) to count. The 3X sneak attack bonus with the bow is huge. I haven't come across an invisibility spell yet but that will be very helpful when I do.
