My game doesn't really slow down but I get this disco affect where all the surfaces turn blue and flash when I move. People, objects, and buildings. Always happens after I've played a while.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
This game is absolutely huge. I'm over ten hours in, and only a level 7. Haven't really been doing anything quest related (side or main) at all, to be honest. Haven't fought a dragon yet, only cleared one dungeon, havent bought a home, havent learned any shouts, haven't used one bit of magic yet, havent created anything using alchemy but I'm already having a blast. I spent about 2 hours yesterday just hunting deer and elk with my bow, and eating mushrooms and flowers trying to discover their ingredients. Today I plan on chopping a bunch of wood and selling it to make some cash and then reading a few of the 30 something odd books I've collected so far. Might wander around and try to discover a few more locations too. This game is great, can't imagine how much better it will be once I start actually playing it- doing quests and gaining new items, armor etc.Last edited by the_future420; 11-22-2011, 02:04 PM.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
My save file is close to 8MB and I've noticed a decline in performance. It's still playable for me, but there's definitely some more stuttering than before. Turning auto-saves off helped a bit.
A good question to ask Bethesda since PS3 users have ran into this very same issue since Oblivion.
You have some on the official forums spending $100+ for a solid-state drive to put in their PS3.
I"m on 360, but I always give myself 3 saves and keep recycling them. That along with the 3 auto. I see later in the thread someone has like 40 saves. I wonder if keeping a smaller system like mine helps?Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I'm not ashamed to say that, because of this, I no longer use the horse and instead "fix" the issue by using the infinite sprint glitch.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
For those playing on 360, does installing the game to the HD make a difference? I'm sometimes seeing popups of animals and people in the somewhat near vicinity (couple hundred feet away maybe?) when I would think they should already be rendered. Would installing to the HD help this at all? I've only got a 20GB HD so its tough to clear out the space necessary to do this, but if it helps I will make room.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I've gotten attacked by them if I walk into their camps. I've only seen them once outside of a camp. I was too busy getting a x30 backstab one-shot to see if they'd attack me first though.PS: You guys are great.

Finally made my way to WindhelmSpoilerwhere Ulfric and his Stormcloaks are. Does joining them prevent me from joining the Imperials/Empire? Can I join both and then ultimately decide who I will side with later on?Comment

SpoilerOne or the other...once you do the initiation mission for one, you fail the join for the other...

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Got my smithing up to 100 this morning, at level 38. Can't decide whether I like Daedric or Dragon Scale armor better. Scale looks stronger based off of stats but I only care how it looks.
Now that that's over with I've gotta decide what to do. The only real story progress I've made is completing the Theives Guild and High Hrothgar in Main story. I've started the Dark Brotherhood, but I think that's probably going to be the best so I want to save it for later.
I think I shall work on the Companion questline next if I don't get sidetracked again.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Also, am I the only person playing a plate armor magic wielder? I craft my own armor(Dragonplate/Dragonscale) and I'm now learning to enchant so that I can place enchantments that are typically on robes, are now on my plate armor. So I get the advantage of having high armor rates, and magic buffs.(Modeled my character after Arthas in WoW)
In combat, I basically wield magic until I run out of magika, and then I bring out my great sword and go to work.
Working on adding a dog as a companion right now. You can have both a humanoid follower and a dog follower at the same time.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Do those quests scale with your level or something. Because I did one of the first ones and thought it was really hard for a quest that early in a storyline. Got swarmed by a ton of high-level draugr things (not regular ones) and the guy with me was dying constantly.Last edited by CC; 11-22-2011, 03:20 PM.Comment
