Have the problems with installing the game on the xbox been fixed yet? I'd like to have shorter wait times but not if the textures are gonna be bad.

ok so i tryed it on my other older lap top which actually has worse specs:

      Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53GHz
      Mobility Radeon HD 4670 1GB
      4 GB DDR3 1066MHz

and there i got a higher frame rate, on high settings btwn 28 and 34, compared to 15-20 on my better lap top!! so for sure there is smth wrong.. no idea what tho

so after several hours of skyrim i realised why i love sports gaming so much and seldomly buy other games, especially no fantasy
not a bad game tho, can be fun, but i dont really see myself playing this for a long time.
think this will stay the only non sports simulation that ill buy in quite some time, ill keep to the real thing

is that accpetable for my hardware or is smth going wrong? i mean you are playing on ultra?? your gpu should be maybe slightly better than mine (eventho older) but nothing that would explain such a difference imo..

anybody got an idea if smth is wrong or if its just normal to got such a performance with my hardware.. i mean nothing wrong with playing it on medium settings just the uncertanty that it could maybe run much better is destroying it for me.

can you post your compelete specs?
If you have a laptop with Optimus make sure that Skyrim is using your gaming card and not just the crappy intel one. Go into the Nvidia control panel, 3D settings and then add the Skyrim executable. Make sure that 'high performance Nvidia Card' is selected and not integrated.

Otherwise turn down shadows, they really sap performance in this game if you have a weaker system. Turning down to medium from high gives me an extra 10fps or so.

thanks mate! yes i added it manually and triple checked it everything seems to be alright. i even made a test to see how much it changes and chose the intel card to run skyrim, in fact it was almost no difference.

quite strange also that i can run the game on ultra settings with abt the same frame rate as on high (16 to 20 fps) and thus just slightly lower than on medium (20 to 30). on average just abt 6 to 7 fps lower
actually its quite playable on medium settings, i mean i always hear a lot of ppl wanting to play on nothing less 60 fps but here even just above 20 seem to be smooth.

Do you have the latest drivers? One of the more recent updates boasted a 45% boost in Skyrim.

Steam does it all for you. Your fps might be limited by your CPU. Maybe drop the resolution? You really want that frame rate to be north of 30.

Also you can overclock your GPU for more fps. Just search for some tips for your particular card, with a laptop you dont want to push too far. I have had a nice overclock on my GT555m for about a year, bringing it up to the stock clocks of the next card in the series. Just keep an eye on temperatures.

actually its pretty ok for me right now to play it with a framerate of 20 to 30. no visible lag. think ill give a a try on the lowest settings to see how more fps feel and consider if its worth the change. i mean many guys complain of just having 30 in certain console games, i dont feel much difference usually (depending on which game of course)
im also fine with playing on medium settings, it would just bother me big time if i would actually be able to play the game on high but i cant do to some preventable problem. thats my way of thinking, always need to get the max out of it, gaming wise at least lol

                    thanks for your help btw!

Time to start completely over, and by completely over I mean reinstall Skyrim and about 15GB of mods. This should be fun.

Ouch....what happened? Did one bad mod screw up the whole thing or something?

Removing mods was the problem. Apparently I should have left the scripts folder alone. Things were working fine for a while, but then I'd get random freezes or CTDs whenever a mob spawned. I noticed I couldn't load up a quick or manual save without first loading up an auto-save. The game would hang when going in and out of buildings. That and a lot of other stuff, it was just ****ed up all around.

I read something about leaving the scripts folder alone when uninstalling unless specifically stated after the fact, and I had been in that scripts folder just deleting **** from mods I had uninstalled earlier today so I'm sure that's where I messed everything up.

Wha? I didn't know about this. I installed the game on my 360 on day one and have never thought any of the textures were bad. Is this a common problem?

Its fixed now, but when the game launched installing it to the HDD caused details on the textures to drop. If you never played without it installed you likely wouldn't notice.

since im completely new to skyrim, can somebody recommend a few mods that everybody should have?

the problem is that im looking for smth which doesnt affect the framerate since im close to the limit there already, was checking out some mods already but it usually doesnt say if the fps will go down after installing it and looking at the most i would expect that itll happen in most cases..

would be great guys, thanks in advance!
