If it's night time, try waiting til day. Or, go to the grindstone/workbench while someone else is using it. Click on it as they're using it, it'll give you the "such and such is using it", after they hop off of it, then try to use it.

I think I had that same problem, and that's what I did.

Hadn't heard that solution. Good to know.

Also, instead of just reloading the current save, try reloading the save that was from 4 hours ago(or any previous save), see if it works in that one and then reload the current save to see if it reset the function.

Figured it out guys. All I did was change my equipped weapon, then approached the grindstone with the weapon drawn. Don't know why I didn't think of it before.

Just a heads up, it wasn't just the forge I couldn't use. The enchanter and alchemy lab were bugged too until I did this.

Another possible solution logged into the brain in case I encounter this.

Plus, I've become an arrow hoarder. I will buy every arrow I find when I come across it, and if you have arrows on your back you can be damn sure I'll be pickpocketing or killing you.

But for real...I currently have 1,047 arrows in my inventory (148 Ancient Nord, 36 Dwarven, 583 Iron, 89 Orcish, 191 Steel).
I despise iron arrows. I always end up running out of elven or dwarven arrows and next thing I know I'll be shooting iron arrows for half damage. Have to go into my inventory and switch the next arrow always. I wish it defaulted to the next strongest arrow in your inventory when you run out.

Glass arrows are where its at though. Daedric are good also, but I've only found a handful and used them up fighting dragon priests.

Yeah, I definitely noticed that there are VERY few Daedric arrows around. I think I've found 8 so far

Anyone run into this and know of a workaround? I tried reloading a recent save, but that didn't work, and the closest save to that is like 4 hours ago. No way in hell i'm going back that far.
Literally seconds after I read this, it happened to me.

I'm level 12 and a Drauger Death Lord just dropped a sweet Ebony Bow when I cheesed him from a rocky outcropping he couldn't reach.

Nightingale = Best looking armor in the game, only thing I hate is that the gloves don't have the x2 sneak attack damage like the Dark Brotherhood gloves.

Finished up the Thieves and DB, deciding what to do next, either Mages or Imperials vs Stormcloaks.

If anyone is wanting to do some leveling in blacksmithing (Iron Daggers). Go to Riften and go inside the house next to the blacksmith, downstairs he has a safe with a **** ton of iron ore, leather strips, and all kinds of other stuff.

No self-respecting smith would use stolen raw materials.

Since I have no self-respect, I will check that out. Thanks for the tip!

Then neither do I since every ingot and ore that came within a foot of me I stuffed in my pockets. Smithing materials were easy to sell without a fence since you could just make something.

Busy finishing off quests and, since I had nearly 300 picks I figured I'd finish the skeleton key and ran into a bug
