Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
This is why I put no stock in IGN reviews. 6.7 and it's the best RPG game on this side of the Pacific Ocean I've played in years.

JUst another example of why IGN is more of a news site for me than a review site, they rarely get the reviews rightStreaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

The guy doing the review came across as someone who plays on easy. I never see "bullet sponges" I seem to get maneuvered on pretty tactically by the AI. The baseball bat/hatchet guys are the only ones that absorb bullets and rightfully so...they tend to actually catch me more often than not...I mean...suicide bombers do the same thing. Its not about their life as it is about how many of us they take out with them and same goes for baseball bat dudes. I stopped relying on IGN reviews long time ago."Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"

Here are some videos of us playing last night, had a blast and really started working as a functioning team. In some spots we really acted like we knew what the hell we were doing, LOL
EDIT: Is there a way to post videos inline?Last edited by ODogg; 03-18-2016, 11:59 AM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
That's one thing I really love about this game is that most missions and battles have several options of how you can approach them, flanking the enemies, climbing to a higher vantage point to attack them from above thus negating the cover they are behind. In many instances, that spur of the moment tactic change by myself or a squad mate has made a world of difference. One of the recent Challenge mode daily missions in particular stands out, we were held up in a choke point trying to fight our way forward. We were finding it hard to get enough firepower on the enemies who were charging at us. I swapped to my LMG that has a 185 round clip and when the enemies were stunned I just unloaded on them, that's a lot of lead hitting them, just tore right through their armor. Other decisions like that when working as a team and changing our strategy on the fly has made a huge difference

From what I've been reading on reddit it appears that he was reviewing the beta and not the final game.

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
You are right and it's also imperative that people lay cover down and flank too in order to wipe out the CPU. If you just stand your ground and fight it's much tougher than trying to see some sort of advantage whether it's flanking from high or to one side.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
I agree with what you said, Kingkilla, but am confused on your stance.
I think the issue is groups have a distinct advantage. They can literally bully and control sections of the map and make it hell for solo players, lower level/less geared players/smaller groups.
I ran into an issue yesterday where an entire group if rogues sat atop a building and gridlocked the entire block. You got close, you were dead. On top of that we were level 15, they were all 19 and 1 of the other 3 in my group was in the DZ for the first time.
Noe, having said all that, I'm not complaining. It is the DZ after all and that is what happens when you're there...you want to fight NPC's for the good loot, you better expect a human player to be hiding waiting to pick you off and steal your stuff.
Tl;dr - yes the penalties for dying are stiff, no I don't think they should change the dynamic because not everyone likes it. It is a PvP zone, don't want to risk it, don't go in it.

Then they should at least allow for some sort of way, for those rewards of entering the DZ to be available for those who aren't into it.Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
At what level did everyone get their first gold and/or purple drops? I just had my first two purple drops at 27, still haven't seen a single gold. I still haven't found much in the good weapons department. Is it better to just anticipate buying or crafting such things?Comment

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
There is no competitive matchmaking/PvP, TDM etc etc. The DZ is essentially that in The Division.
What would be the purpose if there were no repercussions? It would literally be an extension of the other half of the game, thus defeating the entire purpose.
Most of the complaint's I see are from people who want a single-player experience and want to be able to get the loot without encountering other players. I just don't see why Ubisoft should break from their mold to appease people who don't like it. Nobody is forcing anyone to play it. It just happens to be the other half of the game.
It may not be a 1:1 comparison, but I'm going to use Destiny. IB and Crucible and the other PvP modes offer gear different from that of raids/strikes/story. How is it any different? Its not. It may be different in the way you que up for PvP matches, but in the end it is the same. You want the gear offered there you have to play it (DZ). Just so happens that the entire purpose of the DZ is that other players fill the world and you can be attacked at any time and that gear is at risk.
This fact does not make it unfair to those who do not like PvP. It just is what it is.

Re: The Division (Xbone/PS4/PC)
didn't get a gold to drop until I went into DZ at level 30.
currently, haven't had any gold drop outside of DZ.
the challenge mode difficulty rewards you with a gold item though.Comment
