    Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I gave the online version a go but could not get into it. It just couldn't get the immersion I felt with the story.

I am in the midst of my second playthrough of the game and I am loving it. Doing everything I possibly can with Arthur and in chapter 4. So I am doing all the challenges I can and have unlocked all of the satchel upgrades.

I'm enjoying the update. The biggie is that they fixed animal spawns so the trader role is viable again. It's also fun to have a lot of aggressive animal interactions (bears, cougars, wolves, etc.). I think I had maybe one wolf attack in every ten hours of online free roam, now it seems to happen once or twice every hour. I had a panther hunting me in Lagras while I was on the tail of a 2-star bounty. Not fun!

It looks like the only relevant addition for Story Mode is the weapons locker. Shame it took nearly two years for that to be added.

RdR 2 has been a great experience for me. I've been taking my time doing a little bit of everything. The game looks great, even on my OG Xbox 1 and 1080p TV. I'm enjoying the story, regardless of any shortcomings or slow-downs. I haven't been disappointed nor have I been overly gushing in amazement.

The best thing about the game could be it's biggest downfall: depending who you are and what you want/expect out of a game, the massivness could be good or bad. It's wide open nature with so much to do can be overwhelming. Personally, I only hunt as long as I feel compelled to. I only fish until I am bored. I only meander about the world randomly until I don't want to anymore. And I only play mission's until I feel the need to change it up. Truth is I can only take short, 1-2 hour sessions before I need to put it down, but that's not a bad thing IMO.

I play a few times a month, on weekends in between dad-duty, and I get the enjoyment I expect out of the game. I don't have any idea when I'll complete the story, it could be months from now and I am perfectly fine with that. For me, if I tried to rush this game or play it everyday and complete every challenge etc, I would almost definitely get burnt out like some of you have said.

There are certainly two sides of the coin on this game (every game, really), and I understand the wide range of view points. Could be the greatest game ever, a boring chore or anything and everything in between.

This is exactly how I feel about this game. I did not play RDR1 and mostly play sports games, and got RDR2 at the start of the pandemic as something to play besides sports games. I really enjoy the game and play for 1-2 hours also, and find it can be addictive in these short bursts. Wish I would have found this game before having a baby so I could play it more.

              This.

Also, don't buy things with gold bars that you can get with RDO$. It'll be hard to get lots of money at first, but you'll need those gold bars to purchase the roles (which is where I really started having fun with the online mode). And that's also when the RDO$ really starts rolling in.

There are only so many games I've cried during a video game. The Last of Us and The Last Guardian are the only two games that come to mind immediately.

Its at the very top of my list as well and I would give about anything for a proper remaster of the 1st game.

Looks like Red Dead Online is going standalone. The Bounty Hunter role is also seeing more content added as well.

Red Dead Online – the vibrant, ever-evolving world where you can take on a range of unique roles and pursuits to blaze your own outlaw trail across the American frontier – will be available to purchase as a standalone game from the PlayStation Store,...

That's good to hear about the bounty hunter role. I put this game down for a couple of months because the roles became stale. I really enjoyed RDO for a while but yeah, after my 200th resupply mission stealing the exact same wagon from the exact same location it was time for a break.

i didn't enjoy this game very much, even though i finished it and i keep trying to go back to it every few months.

dutch made me insane. i think it's because i've dealt with people like that in real life and they just aggravate me, i can't stand that type of person.

if i was arthur i would have blown dutch's head off after the intro and been done with it haha. the entire game of putting up with his BS just felt like a chore.

i usually love the rockstar games so i've been awaiting something new but it seems like it will be years before we see another one.
