Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

My computer just BSOD'd when I was about 40 minutes into recording a math lecture video. The file did not render, and if I do the recording again I will have to restart.

This particular computer hasn't ever had a BSOD before (it's a desktop, not a laptop), and that worries me. I very, very regularly do 2-3 hour videos of these, and I shudder in fear over being 2.5 hours into a video only for this to happen again.

Sadly, I did not see what the error was. Does anybody know where I can find logs of such things?

Thank you so much. So far, all I see is it is error code 6008 and was completely unexpected. I just hope it doesn't repeat.

My brand new laptop is also receiving BSOD issues, but that is something I don't record from and that is much easier to take in for repair if needed. That one would also seem more reproducible and fixable. I've had this desktop now for five years, and this is the first of its kind that I've ever seen. It was absolutely the most wrong time to receive it, as well.

This one is pretty good, given that the siren wasn't an intentional part of the mix lol:

That is one of those things it is very mood-depending, I could "awwww, ain't that silly but good for them" or I could go "get the **** out of here with that"

When the media or whoever uses estimates / approximate stats when precise ones are available. For example if a plane crashes and it is known that 287 people died but then it is reported as "nearly 300 people died..." mother****ers, just use 287!

Speaking as a man that had zero male role models growing up... sorry David Ortiz, you don't really count 🥲

I am ABSOLUTELY in the chatty patty gossip circles, and that is learned behavior from my mom.

People always do come to me for that "first to know" information. It's pretty funny. However, I do know when to shut my mouth and let certain things die that shouldn't be spoken about.

I don't dislike the one I'm about to say, but it kind of reminds me of when sports broadcasters use stats to drive home some sort of point. "He's 2 for his last 27." Well, you know that also means he's 3 for his last 28. They'll fit the narrative best as they can! Granted, and they should. That's the point and that's why I'm not upset about it.

Some narratives are quite strange to work around, though... like the ones when it's something that the player would clearly not know or care anything about, nor is it actually relevant. "He's 2-for-27 on Monday road games when the attendance is less than 30,000 players and the hitter after him homered the night before." Like... what?
