Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Well how you think I feel, LOL, i'm 4 inches shorter and 31-35 pounds heavier, LOL! But I do have a barrel chest so that could account for a little more weight than just it being fat. I definitely would not look good if I got to the recommended weight from the official doctor charts of 180 pounds. In fact I figured it out once with my body fat and all that, and if I got to 180 pounds then I would be dead!

My doctor said my ideal weight would be 215-220 so that is my goal. Honestly from looking at myself I would agree that seems about right. I really don't have much fat in my head, neck or outer arms or legs, it's almost all in my torso and there is a slight bit at the top of my arms and legs where they meet the torso. My goal at this point would just to get to the point where I could take my shirt off to swim and not feel repugnant. That would be a fantastic achievement for me.

So I had sushi and strawberries for lunch. They had pizza here and I did sneak one small square of cheese pizza. I did some good work at the gym. I did 15 minutes on the bike, then weights (moving from one weight set to the next without stopping, talk about keeping the cardio going, whew!) for about 20 minutes, then finishing up with 20 minutes on the tough elliptical (a modified elliptical). I burned about, guesstimate here, 600 calories. When I was done I ate a can of tuna fish.

I'm sitting at about 900 to 1000 calories right now I think. It's a little higher for me but since today's weight lifting day I'm not going to freak out too awful much. Depending upon how hungry I am tonight I may make up my last little mini-pizza with lots of vegetables or I may go the soup route.

I completely understand that sentiment, and I share it. My girlfriend has always tried to get me to go to the pool, and it's worked once or twice, but I haven't felt comfortable in a pool for a long long time.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Oh and the first week of the tuna experiment yielded a 3.8 pound loss. The tuna experiment is to eat one can of tuna fish right before you go to sleep. Milbut told me the idea and so I thought i'd give it a shot. The theory is that your body must metabolize the protein so your metabolism stays more constant during sleep instead of slowing down. It's a bit early to say it works but so far in week 1 it bodes well.

If anyone wants to try the tuna experiment, it would be great to have more than one person trying it. You have to like tuna though really. He said you could mix it with mayo or mustard and eat it on a bun but I just eat it plain myself, then brush my teeth and go to sleep.

Yeah Giggas, I can't remember a time i've felt comfortable at the pool since I became a teenager really. I swam a good bit in Texas when I was trying to get into shape but no one was ever at the pool. I wore a t-shirt then because swimming in Texas without one was just asking for a fair haired lad like me to become Mr. Crispy. But I would have loved to have taken the shirt off at least for a while.

Was it something I said? Perhaps requesting volunteers for the great tuna experiment???

6'3 217 today ... feels pretty good. I always seem to find a way to not improve myself and stay the same.

It's a tough battle to get under 10% bf ... dedication has to be 100%!

Got off the recumbent bike, and I gotta tell you guys, I feel like a millllion dollars coming out of the shower. I mean, I don't look it, but I feel like I could go toe-to-toe with Evander Holyfield for two rounds (at which point he'd knock my head clear off my body because I am a software engineer, not a boxer).

I mean, I don't look forward to the gym, and I don't like going, and I don't like being there (since there are hot girls there and even though I'm attached, it makes me feel bad that they're all hot and I'm all fugly), but afterwards, I feel awesome. Makes me want to go through all that gym business.

Rule #1 is get some good music to work out to.

Without music I'd be a fat slob

Hey man, you should seriously get an iPod if you don't have one and put on some music. Then watch The Simpsons with CC on. Music has been scientifically proven to help expand your workout beyond normal non-musical workouts. A trainer at the gym told me that iPods are banned in a lot of sports like bicycling because they create an unfair advantage!!

Oh and congrats on the great workout, I know what you mean about feeling like a million bucks. I feel like attacking someone after I'm done working out, ala Fight Club, LOL.

However, as for the women I have to disagree with you there. I enjoy seeing really hot women working out even though I know they'd never have anything to do with me. In fact, if there's one or two particularly nice looking ones on the treadmill I'll lift weights just so I can sit and stare directly at their moneymakers, haha. Hey, I can't get anywhere with women in person so I gotta take whatever I can get! Hopefully that will change if I can lose more weight though.

Yeah I didn't start it until after that weekend. Also, when I got drunk Friday I forgot to eat the tuna so I skipped the one night. I tend to forget things when I'm drunk, LOL.

I'm going to keep doing it. Today at work I opened a can of tuna and put it in a cup and ate it like that with some tomato mixed in. I was like, see this sh**? I do this sh** all day!!

I need some help / opinions to create a fullbody workout that i'm going to do 3 times per week. Basically i want to do 2 exercises per body part but i workout at home so i don't have all the machines etc but i do have a bench, dumbbells and a power rack.

                              So far I've got:

                              Chest:
                              3 sets bench press
3 sets push ups (maybe i should swap this for dumbell bench press but it's hard to get enough weight on my dumbbells to make it worthwhile)

                              Legs:
                              3 sets squats
                              3 sets calve raises

                              Bi's:
                              3 sets dumbbell curls
                              ?

                              Tri's
3 sets tri pushdowns (my power rack has a cable thingy)
                              3 sets Overhead dumbell extensions

                              Back
                              3 sets Lat pulldown
                              3 sets deadlift

                              Shoulders
                              3 sets front lateral raises
                              ?

                              Abs
3 sets crunches / weighted crunches

What do you guys thing of this workout? I need another exercise for Bi's and another for shoulders as well (or is it already enough)? My plan is to alternate cardio one morning, weights the next, 3 days of each then have sunday's off. I was doing p90x which is great and was thinking of doing insanity but it seems such a waste to have spent this money on my home gym if i'm not going to use it.

My sons were watching Cartoon Network the other morning right before I left to run. A Barbie Doll commercial came on and they were singing, "I'm a Barbie girl..."

Needless to say, I left the house with that stuck in my head an no music to run to.
