Going to be hard to do that without going to the gym. My best guess would be in order do make those kind of "clean" gains you'd need to go with heavy Compound lifts. The Squats, Deadlifts, Benchpress; and also really watch what you eat stay with lean cuts of meat, fish, fresh fruits, and veggies.

If you can't go to the gym I'd probably do my best with what I can at home, Push-Ups, Dumbbell exercises, try to find some place where you can do Pull-Ups maybe in a park, but it will be tough to gain that kind of mass without the compound lifts.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a lot for me though. Maybe I'm wrong, but 10-15 pounds on a 6'5" frame doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do, but I could definitely be wrong. I am not looking to get too big. I will get a gym membership in the future, but with my work schedule and having two little boys running around, it's tough to find the time. I know I have to make time.

Or maybe a couple rounds of P90x will give me what I want. I may not be sitting at 240-250, but if I'm a lean 230-235, that would just work as well and would give me some of my "basketball body" back.

Oh 10-15 lbs in general isn't too hard given the proper time frame, just steadily eat about 200-500 cals more than your maintenance. But you specifically said you wanted the gains to be good weight. Which I assume would mean you want that to be almost all muscle, with very little Body Fat. Which in that case would be more difficult, and would require more discipline.

Usually when you first start weight lifting from scratch, you pack on muscle pretty quick. (Like I gained 10 lbs of lean mass within my first 3 months) Because of the shock on your body, and if you're eating, recovering properly you will grow and adapt to the weight you are lifting. However after the "Newbie" stage you start to plateau, and it becomes more difficult to make gains because your body adjusts. So you have to compensate by increasing your weights, going heavier to kind of reproduce that same shock stimulation.

You are obviously not a beginner so it's going to be a little more difficult to get pure lean gains without heavier lifts, p90x should help but I would think that would get you more leaned out, out and toned than bulked up. However you said you wouldn't mind that lean look so maybe that's the way to go. Maybe I've got it wrong and your Diet will be enough to get you your goals.

Regardless good luck achieving what you want.

I just learned that pushups don't build biceps. I've been doing about 75 per night for 2 months in hopes of seeing a gain.

Well, you could work just biceps with different variations of curls with free weights and the bar, but you also need to work out your triceps in order to get bigger biceps..

+ do you really want to be the guy with huge arms and your chest and shoulders not look proportional ?

So many guys at my gym that are like that. Huge upper body with chicken legs. I don't get it.

Pushups are one of the best exercises ever. Who cares about just the biceps when your shaping your back, chest and triceps. Step it up and do clappers, put your feet on a bench or wear a backpack with books. That's great you're doing 75! Keep going.

Yep, pushups are for real. They may not build huge muscle, but you'll gain serious definition and strength by doing them. That, and there is NO excuse for not doing pushups. No equipment, minimal space. What more can you ask for?

I'm on week two of the "Lose your belly fat fast" interval training workout. I'm doing that M/W/F with some jump roping after running. I'm also still working on the grease the groove technique with pushups and pullups. I've already noticed that pumping out a bunch of pushups is much easier.

Actually got a question for you guys as well. Anyone own a weight vest? My brother in law picked up the Mir Pro 30lb vest off Amazon, and he said it's added a new dimension to his workouts. However, it's priced at over $150 after shipping. It's really the only vest with good reviews from what i've seen. It seems to be the most snugly fit of any of them, as reviews say that running in them isn't difficult due to the vest being so form fitting. Just looking for some opinions on them.

So, does anyone know what Advocare is?

                        Link

I have some friends from high school that use it and distribute it. I have heard from them that have experienced awesome results with it. I've known people who have done the 24-Day Challenge and it has worked great for them. I am going to try it and see what it does for me, and if I really like it I might become a distributor. Anything to help supplement my family's income would be great, but I want to try the products first.

I've read some great reviews, and I've read some less than stellar reviews on it. Curious to see if anyone here has any experience with it?

I've never heard of it, until now.

Seems a little interesting.. I wonder how much you actually have to invest to get started as a distributor ? I don't have much of a use for the product and I don't know many people that would be interested, anyways...

To be honest I've never personally heard one bad thing about it and heard the results are real.

It's more geared toward weight loss and energy I think, so if you're not overweight, there's really no need for it, as far as I understand... I am going to do the 24-Day Challenge most likely, just because I have another 10-15 pounds that I would like to lose.

I know some distributors that I went to HS with and all of them just rave about it. These are guys I trust and they know my situation - a wife, a son and another son on the way in August - on a single income. I know they wouldn't led me toward a financial mistake. There is money to be made from what it sounds like, but I am not sure how much it costs to get started.

One of my friends supplements his regular income by about $2,000 per month selling it, but he claims next year he will be making $8,000 per month doing it. I have another friend who makes $96,000+ annually distributing it.

Naturally, I am skeptical when I hear numbers like that, but I trust that these are guys who are not going to blow smoke. It is a tried and true product, so there is value in that...

I am going to be giving it a try and will keep you guys posted... It might be a decent financial opportunity to make some extra money, or at least that's what I am hoping.

What do you guys think about pushup handles/grips? Do they help? My wrists get sore after my pushups and I've been thinking of picking some of these up if they work.

Do you have dumbbells? Alternatively you could lay 2 dumbbells on the floor and grip them for push ups and you would have pretty much the same thing... if not yeah the grips will probably reduce strain on your wrists and help you keep tight form.
