For sure, they offer great deals all the time, and speedy delivery. I don't even dare go near a GNC, or any plain ole' supplement store, I take care of all my Weight training products with BB.com.

You might want to split that up in two servings, like before and after your workout, you might be able to absorb more of the protein that way. From what I been reading online, your body can absorb 35 g of whey protein at a time.

You also want to have 1 gram per pound that you weigh throughout the day so if your 180 lbs take 180 grams of protein a day but spread it throughout the day.

                I'm no fitness genius/guru.

Taking protein will only help me add weight to my muscles right as long as I work out? Trying to lose some of my fat I have as well, could probably lose 10-20 lbs of fat

                  Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I'm not too keen on the "protein absorption" limit, especially since the timing of your macronutrients is irrelevant at the end of the day. Of course you wouldn't want to be taking all your protein requirement in one go and I agree that jb12780, you are better off splitting up the 4 scoops to 2, but if you take 50 or 60 grams of protein in one go, then that's fine (although you'll go through weight gainer/protein powders quickly with that).

Chrisksaint, as long as you create a caloric deficit you will lose fat regardless of how much protein you take in. If your daily maintenance is 2300 calories, with exercise, if you take in 1800, you will lose weight. Try to keep your protein to 1g/lb.

                    Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

So, since I lost all my fridge/freezer food I'm going to use this as an opportunity to change some things. Looking at my habits by pure calorie intake, I do pretty good during the day, but I get hungry at night and tend to over-eat for supper compared to the rest of the day's meals. I plan to make some changes to what I'm eating, but I'm not exactly crushing soda pop and bags of chips so that shouldn't be too major of a change. The big thing I'm doing is to try and spread out into a 5 "meal" schedule. Basically something along this line:

                    Breakfast
Bagel, cereal, scrambled eggs, waffle*, toaster scrambler *, with some type of fruit (banana, apple, etc)

                    Mid-morning
Serving of fruit - maybe a serving of nuts mixed in depending on the day's routine (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, etc)

                    Lunch
Typically my lunch consists of a serving of carrots, an apple, and either leftovers from supper or a sandwich on wheat sandwich bread with a serving of luncheon meat, slice of cheese, and a little bit of mustard.

                    Late-Afternoon
                    Same as mid-morning.

                    Dinner

Admittedly a lot of my dinners consist of rice or pasta. Usually with the rice I'll some kind of of "Mexican dip" concoction where I cut up some tomatoes, onions, crunch up tortilla chips, salsa, etc and go with that. Its helpful as leftovers. Lately I've been mixing in either grilled chicken or hamburger in with it. I will also prepare one or two pasta dishes a week (spaghetti or fetticini).

Anyway, as far as supper goes I'm just looking to consume less overall. I plan on having grilled chicken "on deck," limit the rice as a meal to once a week, keep the pasta, but also throw in more vegetables regularly. I haven't cooked/grilled fish yet so I will look into that soon.

What do you guys think? What would you change/take out?

What are some things you guys recommend as far as actual meals? And how do you feel about frozen foods? The only frozen foods I really eat are waffles and toaster scramblers for breakfast.

I'd to try eliminate/limit your consumption of the processed wheat flour products if you want to drop lb's or lean up. That stuff just puts a "layer" on you that no amount of working out can fully get rid of. So, the cereal, bagels, waffles, toasters, pasta, sandwich bread, all that stuff with the enriched flour I'd start with. Get your carbs from fruit. Unless you are doing endurance races like triathlons or marathons, you don't need that stuff.

Had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics I was on and now back on a 6 day dose of prednisone which I gotten off of like 10 days ago for sinus problems. No desire to do much of anything again..

Summer has not gone to plan, hopefully get back in it next week. Once I get back up to FSU I can control what I eat better since for the 1st time i'll be buying groceries, etc and then work out on campus after last class.

                          I am definitely getting there.

I weighed in at 244 pounds as of yesterday, so that is 20 pounds shed in the past two months, which I think is a healthy pace to drop that weight. My target goal is still 225/230, so I should get there by the beginning of the fall. I am finding that the less weight I pack, the less my back gives me problems.

                          Gotta keep it going...

If you lift heavy that day and take aminos before you go to bed, your body's largest burst of growth hormnone occurs in the middle of the night while you are sleeping. The aminos help harvest that into muscle building. Only take them on heavy lift days, though.
