Yeah I can't go real heavy with the Kickbacks either, I'll start out with a heavier weight (for me) 25-30 lbs do like 2-3 reps, then I'll drop it down to 15's and I can get some good reps in for the rest of the set.

I actually did Chest/Biceps today, and my wrists/grip are just recovering. Jonesy I have your problem, except instead of my shoulders it's my wrists they are just naturally really weak so after I get done with my workouts they are really sore from gripping the bar/weights. I might need to alter something with my grips to prevent any future problems.

If you have some pushup grips, you can also do some close grip pushups, that'll work the heck out of your tri's too.

W/ kickbacks, focus on form, you'll be up in weight in no time.

I just feel like I've been cheating myself, by not getting a good enough tricep workout. Having bigger tris is the only way my biceps are going to get bigger, too..

True that. I believe I read somewhere the Triceps make up roughly 75% of your upper arm. So if you really want to get the built up, ripped looking guns you have to focus on the triceps, even if the Biceps are the "Showier" looking muscle, that pops out the front of your arm more.

Having bigger triceps will really give you the illusion of bigger overall arms, and bring out your biceps even more.

Have you though about strapping them or using gloves with built in wrist straps for support? Might be worth trying if you haven't already....

I plan on buying me a good set of gloves, soon. The gym I work out at is more traditional, so the dumbells and bars can be rough sometimes.

I like the fact that I have to load the weights on most machines on my own. The newer machines are nice, but the design on some is poor.

I had a long conversation with the gym owner today about it.. I'm glad their staff is really down to earth and friendly. It's hard not to respect the dude's opinion on things, he's in phenomenal shape.

Amazing progress Bh!! Truly inspiring stuff.

I think a modified paleo is the way to go for sure. I'm never going to be one of those full on 'never eat something a cave man wouldn't have eaten' type dudes but the core principles (lots of meat, vege, fruit, no sugar and processed crap etc) are solid. My only question really was the breakfast because while I love eggs I don't know if I want to eat it every single morning so that's interesting to see you still have a wholegrain cereal and have had that kind of results. Do you drink booze at all?
I still enjoy the spirits! Probably twice or so a month...

I was a little pissed at myself for such a poor effort with my triceps, after last night. Tonight was a legs night, but I also did some kickbacks with the pulleys and with dumbells..

It was a little random, but here goes...

                  Inverted Leg Press ( 3 sets of 10 @ 300 lbs )
                  Calf Raise Machine ( 3 sets of 10 @ 200 lbs )
                  Leg Curls ( 3 sets of 10 @ 120 lbs )

                  Ran 2k on the tredmill

                  Pully Kickbacks ( 3 sets of 10 @ 60lbs)
                  Dumbell kickbacks ( 3 sets of 10 @ 35 lbs)

I've been on this sets of 10 kick lately..

Something I've been doing lately, and I suggest that anyone give it a try at least, is instead of doing sets of numbered reps, do sets of "time". 30 seconds per set. A weight you can manage for 30 seconds, but you want the last 5 seconds or so to be absolutely brutal. I encourage anyone to go for it at least once, post your thoughts after getting a full workout in.

I may try this next time I work back/biceps, which should be tomorrow..

I've still been eating some of my favorite foods (no sweets), but I've started using a smaller plate to eat on. I think it's helping to prevent me from over eating.

It's hard to deny some of my mother's home cooking, when I'm around the house.. my step dad is considering getting in the gym with me, soon..

He used to be big into it, when he was younger.. I've inspired him to try to get back in shape.. or so I think.

I did it w/ Shoulders/back/chest today, and I'm dead. Literally absolutely shot. The burn is immense, and I have "that feeling" after drinking my protein shake... I love the "tough workout/recovery" feeling.

Interesting... Is this a way of burning fat? Can you do strength with it?

                            http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/top-...scle-gains.htm

Just read this. What do you guys think of the 4 day split of Upper/Lower/Upper/Lower? Right now, as i've said, i'm doing Chest/Shoulders/Abs Monday, Bi's/Tri's/Legs Wednesday, and Back/Abs/Legs Friday. It seems to be going well so far, but I may switch to a different routine if I'd see better gains. Just curious how many times a week you guys work the same body part. I read that muscles typically recover within 48-72 hours, so i'm wondering if i'm spending too much time recovering each week, when I could be hitting the muscle again at a fully recovered state. I'm sure i'll see "newbie" gains either way, as I haven't steadily lifted weights for years, but I'd like to maximize my gains.

My pumps are incredible, and sweat is normally rolling off by the end of the first set or two...

Like I was talking about earlier, after I'm done, and the day after, the "recovery" feeling I get is more intense than straight high weight, low reps. Of course, I just started it this week, but my pumps, even the day after, are still incredible. We'll see over the next little bit strength wise how it pans out.

It's definitely a "different" workout than I've ever done. Focuses less on the "number" and more on time spent.
