    Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

My lunches are almost always leftovers from dinner (I'm a brown bagger b/c I workout during my lunch hour). My lunch always has a meat/fruit/veggie/nuts. I'm lucky in the sense that my office complex has a cafe which always has some nice options in case I don't pack a lunch. I don't eat sandwiches b/c I stopped with the bread. That, or I'll chunk the bread and just eat the meat/toppings.

      Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I'm drinking a few cups of black coffee, before heading to the gym.

I struggled without the preworkout at first, as I felt like I couldn't do the same weight that I was doing, but I've almost flushed that out of my mind and my workouts are almost back to normal.

I may still use something here and there, but not every day...

Bout to head downstairs and hit bi's and back. Like I said, Monday was the first day i've hit chest and tri's together, and i'm still sore as hell, in a good way.

Man, today was just one of those days where I had nothing. I was struggling to complete sets, and had to lower weight on a few sets just to get a good burn. That's the first time it's happened since I've gotten back into lifting.

Oh well, it was bound to happen. Back at it Friday for shoulders, legs, and abs.

Same here, wanted to do a full Tricep/Shoulder routine today but after my first few sets I just had nothing. Had to lower weights, and cut some of the exercises out to get through it.

I think this means I've been going too hard, and too frequently. I'm going to probably need to increase my rest time to get more quality recovery.

              I feel you guys, completely..

I just couldn't lift much today. I set up 70 lbs + the bar and couldn't even crank out my usual three sets of standing bar curls (or whatever you want to call it). I did, however, go up on weight on the seated curls.

I tried to get on the bike and crank out 3.5k, but I got some random heart burn out of nowhere and started feeling like garbage.

I just didn't have it in me, today..

Yeah it sucks when you have a bad session but I guess they can't all be 100% awesome. I just try to use it to fire me up for the next session.

Do you guys plan in regular de-load periods?

I'm probably going to have to take the next 2 days off of lifting, I've been doing 2 days on 1 day off and I've managed to maintain my energy levels but I think I'm starting to get a bit burned out probably going to have to put in 2 day rest periods more often.

I'm afraid to take too long of a break because I'm an ectomorph so i feel if I take an extended period off from lifting I'll start losing muscle pretty quickly.

De-load periods? Can you explain? Is that like a week of lower weights?

yeah or even pre-planned time off totally. I know I like to take a full week off every 12 weeks. Helps keep things fresh and does more good than harm imo.

Yeah, the program I'm using has build in deloading periods. For example it's 3 full body workouts a week. First day is 2 sets of your 10 rep max (depending on what week you are, 8-12 reps each set), then the 2nd day is 10% less weight with the same reps, and 3rd day is 20% less. The first two weeks of each cycle has you doing 2x8 and 2x9 on each exercise with your 10 rep max, so those are also kind of deload weeks.

I've combined Intermittent Fasting with the Anabolic Diet. I consume @40-60g of carbs during the day, eating usually between 3:00-9:00PM. I workout at 10:30-midnight. On the weekends, when I can carb "load", I still have a window that I eat in, so even though I'm eating "dirtier" food, I'm mitigating it somewhat because I'm only eating within a certain window. And I'll still do some sort of exercise around the house or get to the gym if I can. Really working well for your boy for fat loss.
