    Still doing good. We started a Biggest Loser contest at work and my partner and I are a combined 21 pounds down in a month. We're third in total pounds lost and percentage lost out of 42 teams. Have to keep trucking.

    To win, by our math, I'm going to have get down to my HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL WEIGHT. I am 256 right now - to achieve that goal, I'll need to be 225. It probably won't happen, but that's my goal. If I don't get there, that's fine. I think either way, I'll hit 235 at the lowest. A healthy diet and Insanity is doing my weight loss goals a great deal of good right now. There's a lot of people in the contest that have A LOT of weight to lose whereas my partner and I don't - but if we hit our goals, we'll be in it at the end.

      I'm on Day 6 of the Paleo lifestyle. Things are going well. The weekends are usually where I fall off the wagon. I'm not doing it this time!

      I had football practice today and that got me pretty good so I'm not lifting. I have baseball tomorrow so I'll lift after that.

      That's right about to be 27 and I still get to play full contact football and baseball (not softball). It's my main motivation. I want to go out there and be the best.

        50 front squats (75 lbs)
        10 toes to bars
        40 front squats
        10 toes to bars
        30 front squats
        10 toes to bars
        20 front squats
        10 toes to bars
        10 front squats
        10 toes to bar

        Earlier this week we had a pretty tough one:

        4 rounds (2 min rest in between rounds)
        300m row
        25 thrusters (35lb dumbbells)
        25 pull-ups

        I really encourage guys who are looking to get stronger and leaner to check out crossfit exercises.

          So i'm gonna head out later and pick up a sledgehammer, then go scour some junkyards for an old truck tire. I've read really good things about workout out with a sledge, and I figure it will be a fun way to get work in on my cardio days.

              I'm about to hit the gym for the first time in about 4 days. I felt like my body really needed a few days off.

                I took about 3 days off, and it made a nice difference was able to get back and have an intense, explosive workout.

                  I am interested but have some concerns, mainly an irrational concern about embarrassing myself at a gym as I have never worked out seriously in my life. I am mostly concerned about the power lifting as I don't have a reliable spotter. Also in a gym (non crossfit) would I be running accross the damn place in circuits?

                    I'm going to try some of those crossfit workouts soon to mix things up.

                    I've been sick with a bad cold and chest infection for the last three days and haven't done any fitness wise.

                    I think I may have tendonitis in my left knee as it always painful, anyone have any experience with treating it etc? Might have to cut back on my squatting a little bit...

                      I'll one up you Stew (yes you will always be Stew)

                      I play football & soccer once a week each with 2 nights of hoops sprinkled in with some mid distance running & lifting. I'm also 5 yrs older too.


                      What supplements are you guys taking?

                      I just started Glucosamin & Glucondrin to help with recovery.

                          Crossfit looks insane.

                          If there was a good place to learn the proper way things are done, I may would consider some of it. I'm just afraid that I would have terrible form.

                          Anyone ever heard of LeanFx ? I've been doing some research on it and I'm even considering purchasing it and taking it for a spin.

                            That's awesome! The Rx were 135 (clean & jerk), 95 (push press), and 135 (overhead squat). I'm going to try your workouts.

                              Don't let the commercials/YouTube videos deter you. Most people doing CrossFit are regular people like us. It's a very encouraging/motivating atmosphere. "No ego...be coachable....have fun", that's the mindset they preach. And by the way....Nobody has the right form when they start, so expect some coaching. No big deal, just take it in stride. It's just their way of doing things.

                                Google the "Samson stretch" it has worked wonders for my knee pain. I do the variety of this stretch where I place my toes up on a wall/knee to ground, and extend the other leg forward into a lunge with arms extended overhead. Wall sits holding a tennis ball between your knees and also try the wall sits rotating holding one foot about 2" off the ground. I do this daily and it's feeling SO much better.
