    Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I imagine as long as you have days that aren't weightlifting you're fine.

Can't wait to back up to FSU in almost 2 weeks, going to start watching what I eat then more. I've started recently to put more emphasis on cardio and more reps to build to tone as opposed to strength(what I've been used to for football in the past) to lose weight.

So I've dropped like 30 pounds in the past 8 months, and I really don't know how I did it lol. I guess cutting soda and other suggary snacks out of my diet really did help. I worked out a little bit off and on but never got into a strict routine, I've always been pretty active though.

What a difference a week makes. This is my second week back lifting after 2 years of no gym and I feel much better this week then last. Last week I did chest on the first day and the following day my chest and triceps were crazy sore. The next day I did biceps and of course the day after it hurt to extend my arms. Needles to say my entire upper body was sore for a week. Fast forward to this week, I've done the same stuff with minimal soreness and it only lasts for a day. Muscle memory is pretty amazing.

So, I started boxing this week. It's four days a week, Monday to Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30. I went all four days and man, day one killed me. On Monday and Thursday, every week, Tom Wilt (5-time Pennsylvania Golden Glover) comes in. He trained in this particular gym during his time as a Golden Glover, so he takes a few days a week from his gym to come in and help out.

I was so sore, I couldn't move after the first day. It took me about 20 minutes to get home because my arms were so sore and my legs from the conditioning he does were extremely sore.

It's a great workout though.. I'm hoping to stick with it and make something of it.

              Here is my update:

I dropped 38 pounds and have been working out daily. I am set to run a half marathon in October. I have torched the fat around my waist and have slowly been adding muscle on each part of my body. Eating healthy, cut out the crap and things are going great!!!

I will begin some muscle bulking especially the chest area once I complete my last night gun qualification for the year later this month. Didn't want any silly injuries that could affect my accuracy:wink:

Yea I had a bowl of ice cream last night since I have been doing so well overall. This morning, I made some protein pudding using cottage cheese, peanut butter, banana, two scoops of chocolate protein whey and a little almond milk for that sweet tooth that comes out every now and then.

Just did a nice slow recovery ride... Legs were kinda tight from yesterdays lactate threshold test. I think tomorrow I will do a 40 miler.

                    Jesus Aych!

Tomorrow will be my first day in two weeks without any sort of workout, since we're heading home from vacation. My wrist hurts, my elbow hurts, and I feel sore. I think it's a much needed day off, but I must be motivated to get back into it again on Sunday! Please don't let me drop off, both in motivation and body tone. I don't want one day to make the difference.

I ride 10-15 miles quite a bit (usually off-road on mountain bike trails), but 40 miles...

                        Good luck!

Biking is working out really well for me. As I have said before, I really hate running. But, I don't hate biking. I started biking again this summer and it's been a lot of fun. I got a new Raleigh bike in July with 29" wheels that has really made things more fun, too.

Though it's not the only reason I've lost weight, it certainly is playing a role. I was 6'0", 189 lbs. in mid-March (I'd weighed around 180-185 lbs. for most of the last couple years) and now I'm down to 167 lbs. (and falling slowly). I think watching what I'm eating and not drinking so much freaking Mountain Dew () has played a large role, as well.

Absolutely. One of the main ingredients in my amino acido drink that I take pre workout is green tea extract. You may want to try a supplement to get more rather than drink it.

Bleh I was almost 160 around May and now seemingly between 175-180, freshman 15 has finally hit me but when i'm home doing nothing lol. Kind of disappointing as I was doing pretty well getting in shape again beforehand, with the whole college atmosphere thing I hope I can get back down there soon.

I really hate running also! That's funny because I used to do cross country.
