The shoulder has been like that for 25 years now....always pops out if I have my arm extended fully and put pressure on it or it gets jolted in that position.
It pops back in...and I'm used to it....but it does limit what you can do.

If you can get a partner to run with....***n with a medicine ball and alternate tossing it above your head......tossing it back and forth....rolling it and picking it up while running.

I'd like to pick up a weight vest. That's what my brother in law did for months leading up to the Spartan. Just a 30lb vest. I'll probably pick one up, and instead of running on the treadmill this winter, i'll run outside while it's cold.

I'm gonna get started with working my way up to running at steady rates for a few miles, and once i'm good to go with that, I plan on doing something similar to tabata intervals with sprints. Should get that VO2 max up pretty quick that way.

Weight vests are good. Just be sure to put it on and see how it fits before you buy it. And be aware of the quality of material, especially in the shoulders if you plan on running with it (since not all weight vests are meant for running... some are only good for weighted body resistance exercises like pushups and pullups).

Look up "Fearless Training Camp". It's a 2-day camp designed to train you specifically for these o-course races. They just got sponsored by Spartan, so they are probably going to change the name soon. I went to one of these a few weeks ago. Had instructors there from Parkour, MovNat, CrossFit, and some running coaches. It was awesome. Ran the o-course both days, and improved the 2nd day. The training works. Yes, and someone said you can't believe how taxing it is.....they are right! I couldn't believe how winded I was after just a few obstacles. Thought I had good cardio for such intense bursts. NOT! It was a blast, though, highly recommend doing these races.

          Bro....it was ridiculous.
I was about halfway through.....I thought my lungs were going to burst and I almost wish they did they hurt so much. My head and jaw hurt.....I thought about stopping and saw a vet with a prosthetic leg in front of me. I was never so ashamed of myself for wanting to give up.
You definitely need a motivator if you want to really compete in these events(as opposed to just finishing which is a feat in itself)
I use the Trade Center brothers who didn't make it out. I can reel off their names pretty good by now.
We've got a saying in the department...."NEVER leave a brother on the fire floor"(that means no matter what....they better carry you out of there.)
          Whatever it takes!

My feet were so muddy, I absolutely ate it off the balance beam and swore I tasted a bit of my tail bone in the back of my mouth. Then, they made me do 30 burpees for failing the obstacle. Insult to injury.....

Well I had my first crash after work today since going semi paleo. It's my fault though I had no fruit. I usually have a banana and a clementine or two. Gotta remember the fruit.

So Insanity is a little intense. I guess I know what to expect now. I started off going 110% so I was huffing by the mid-way point, but *** **** I feel great. Muscles are tight and I feel like I can barely bend over, but this is gonna be awesome.

I need to stock up on food though. I was starving last night lol.

Make sure you roll your calves and arches of your feet before and after and do some stretching/mobility with your ankles/calves/feet before you fully tackle that insanity dvd. I've known no less than 3 people that have blown out their achilles tendon doing that workout. Too much springing/bouncing/pushing off the balls of your feet tightens all that stuff up. Just be careful, they don't put that in the commercial.

In addition to the warmups/stretching they do on the DVDs?

First time posting in the thread, but I see you can are looking to get in shape.

Have you guys heard of the Blast Training System by Ryan Hughes? I started it last year and along with the keto diet dropped 75 pounds. Still have about 25 more to go, but damn this workout is intense.

Here's the link to his website, http://hughesfit.com/

If you're interested in buying the book PM me before you do.

Feeling better and better every day after boxing.

I've been killing myself though with wearing a hoodie. It takes so much out of me just wearing it.

My technique is better ten fold since I started two and a half months ago.

I still wish I was able to lift though, just can't afford to pay for a gym membership.

Did a pure strength chest workout last night, seven sets of flat bench for 3 reps each set. Also very short rest periods in between sets, at most 30 seconds. Got up to 255 on my last set, then straight to the dreadmill. Good Times.

Been doing Intermittent Fasting still... My fasts have gone up to as much as 27 hours (that one was by accident, I literally was like "oh snap, I haven't eaten today"), with absolutely zero hunger... Amazing. I'm probably averaging close to 21-22 hour fasts every day.... Clothes fitting looser, and my energy is sky high... Waking up from sleep in the morning is like flipping a switch. Not suffering from any strength loss in the gym either...

I'd never be able to do that. I get the shakes and feel "lighter" when walking after a few hours.
