My breakfast usually consists of a cheese omelette and four pieces of toast.. and by breakfast, I mean lunch.

Haha exactly, I get up at 11 and by the time I get out of bed it's like noon. And i'm usually not home to eat a lunch at 3 or so. I suppose that'll change as I get up earlier starting next semester

oh geeze... where's Jonesy when you need him.

Please site some actual scientific research that supports the idea that you must snack all day and eat 5/6 meals per day to activate your metabolism. Or that by making your largest meal breakfast, your body makes better use of nutrients.

I challenge you to find any hard scientific research done on the topic that supports this conclusion.

say what! You don't often hear those two phrases together lol

I love pancakes as much as the next person (probably more), and if you want to eat them, amen... but eat them because they're delicious, not because you think its an improvement to your diet.

And you show me something that shows where starving yourself is good for the body.

*One disclaimer I should have noted was you need to make smart choices with your snacks. You don't want to actually increase your calories with this method, and if making the wrong food choices during the day occurs, then this of course, will not work. I also emphasized stay active. I don't think anyone in their right mind would recommend eating that many times a day to someone who was sedintary.

You aren't actually starving yourself. It is well known that we eat way more than we need to. I'm finding it out myself. Times when I used to think I was hungry, water would suffice. You learn when you truly are hungry. You never actually starve yourself.

Yeah, that's the hardest part of my diet is knowing when I'm truly hungry or not. Obviously when the stomach is grumbling and growling that's an obvious sign, but staying hydrated goes a long way to fighting "hunger." If I feel an urge I will usually grab a bottle of water or Gatorade and some chewing gum and a lot of the times its just a mind thing.

Apparently I didn't need the beans b/c I literally almost soiled myself during the wod. Back's a little stiff today:

started with the obligatory 39 burpees (b/c I'm 39). Whatever, I expected that.

                      Then:

16 muscle ups on the rings
                      50 deadlifts
                      300 double unders (jump rope)
                      50 dead lifts

The internet is a wonderful thing, just found an article that said Wonka Pixie Stix were a great breakfast item for building lean muscle, lol.

AllJuicedUp - I'm not trying to argue with you, man No science is really necessary here. The basic formula is: eat less calories, make smart food choices, exercise more, lose weight. The premise for the breakfast is your fueling yourself for the day, and if you eat a big dinner and them go to bed....well, that's going straight to storage, especially for someone who does not exercise.

I don't want this to break into an IF vs. 5-6 small meals a day war, but to me IF isn't something that can be maintained over a lifetime while 5-6 small meals a day can. Now I'm sure there are some exceptions to this.

It's all mental. Eat when you are hungry, not when you think you are hungry.

I still doesn't seem like you could keep that up for a lifetime. Especially if you lift weights seriously or do strenious activities like crossfit. To each his/her own and if it works for you outstanding!

I'll just give an example of what I did yesterday:

                                6:30 a.m. - eggs, ground turkey, fruit
                                10:00 a.m. - handful of almonds, banana
1:00 - chicken breast, salad, mixed nuts, applesauce
3:30 - handful of almonds, carrot, pear
                                7:00 - fish, broccoli, squash
9:30 - couple pieces of beef jerky, handful of grapes

That's just the times of day I tend to get hunger pains, or a slight rumble in the tummy. I usually workout during my lunch, and take my dog running at night probably 3 times a week or so.
