    How many mg Omega 3 do you guys take a day? I've been taking one fish oil capsule in the morning containing 600mg Omega 3, but I'm reading of some people taking up to like 3000-4000mg a day.

    If I upped to 1200mg a day (2 capsules) would I be good? I'd like to get the full benefit for my joints, especially where I'm training harder for the Tough Mudder.

      The one I'm using is 1000mg per pill and it says to take it 3 times day with food. I very rarely remember to take all 3 though.

        Thanks man. I still get some left knee pain when running, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to up the dosage. It's not to the point where it hampers me, but it can be uncomfortable.

            1,000 mg in one pill? Is that EPA/DHA or is that just omega 3's in general?

            The only omega 3's you should be worrying about are EPA and DHA, any others are just fluff and not needed. And I very well could be mistaken, but there's no common fish oil that has 1,000 mg of EPA and DHA per pill as far as I'm aware of. So if you're juts referring to omega 3's in general, I would look at the more important EPA/DHA totals, since the other ones aren't really beneficial.

              The one I take when I remember is 300 epa and dha an reccomend three a day

                Update on this, so far i'm at 163. I've done a pretty good job of consistently eating 1200-1400 calories a day besides the rare exception. Also recently decided to cut down my alcohol intake significantly from basically 3-4 days a week to barely 1.

                Do any of you guys use any supplements in regards to weight loss? I only have whey protein but I haven't used it as i've been more focused on weight loss then strength/muscle

                    How tall are you? 150 seems extremely small. I'm 5'8 170. I'm trying to put on weight. Want to look like Bob Sanders minus the dreads

                      I'm pretty much 5'8" as well, but the thing is my body type is probably pretty different. It's almost say the body type of an NFL RB, very low center of gravity as I have some big thighs/calves,etc but the majority of my fat is around my stomach so that's probably why I can go down to 150 or lower.

                      I have some muscle already, but once I burn this fat i'll go back into strength building mode and just trying to keep fat off

                        Ahh ok my senior year of high school I was 200lbs. That was in 2008. When I finally lost most of the fat I just decided to put on good weight. I don't want to be a short stocky guy but I do think 180 will be fine for me. Hell Bob Sanders was 210 I think.

                          If you're working out, you need more food. How did you come up with that number?

                            I agree, he should at least do 1800 to 2000 for weightloss. Low calorie intake causes your body to hold onto more fat instead using it for energy.
