Now keep in mind I know losing lbs isn't the goal at the moment although it is a longterm goal.

I'll stay on this strength program until about the end of april or may then go into a cutting phase which will basically mean Im just adding running back into my routine and cut a few things out of my diet. Right now I'm 6' hovering around 240 lbs (was 235 before this program). My ultimate goal is to get to around 200-205 by the end of the summer.
Strength increase =/= mass increase. You can gain strength on a cut.

Very true, but at the moment I'm trying to add strength and muscle mass. So far it's working pretty well too. In a month or two I'll stop stressing gaining muscle mass and worry more about losing unwanted body weight.

        Down another pound since Saturday.

That makes 5 altogether so far.

I believe the way to go..

For Strength training. High Amount of weight, with low reps.

For Gaining Muscle mass, density it's all about the amount of time under tension for your muscles. So you want to go with a lot of reps and sets with a moderate weight. (not light weight, but maybe like 70-60% of your maximum and go until failure)

40-70 seconds under tension is the goal. Any after that will probably result in diminished returns unless working on endurance.

I believe that different things work for different people. I went years upon years doing the 10-12 rep range stuff and while it conditioned my muscles I didn't really gain much muscle. For the most part the muscle I had got harder. I did this for years with minimal results in the muscle building area. It helped keep me in decent shape though. I started this strength program a couple months ago and already my legs, chest, and back have responded more then anytime during the higher rep range stuff. Now I'm not saying this would be the case for everyone but clearly for me it's working.

Yeah I stick with my older football workouts when it comes to weightlifting, less reps and more weight has always shown pretty good results for me when I actually stick with the program both in muscle mass and strength

Day 9 of Insanity done...pure cardio. Feeling better and better after every workout, so it's definitely paying off.

Had to run a two hour soccer practice tonight following work. Struggling being able to do Insanity each day. Got up early this morning but felt like crap as I did not sleep during the 6 hours I tried to get in. Heading to bed much earlier tonight.

Tomorrow is Day 3 of Insanity. Should be Day 5

Yeah, I know the feeling. My son started baseball last night. That's 2 hours a night 2-3 times a week. I had to switch my off day from Sunday to Friday but back on schedule already. Don't give up though, I feel it's definitely worth it.

So, I finally went back to the regular gym.

I've been boxing every week, but I haven't been lifting at all. So, I've decided that I'm going right to lift when I get off work at 6, and than head to the boxing gym at 7.

I felt good today, still got some of my strength.

                              212 lbs at night.

If I get down below 210 I'm going to flip the **** out.

I've been 220 or more since I was 16 years old. I've always been tall with a big structure and looked decent even at 230 with more muscle.

Oh man. Just wait until the next Pure Cardio workout - you get to do abs after you're done.
