There is way more context than you are giving.

The issue was people calling it the China or Wuhan virus, which targets one country as bad, the result of which are why we stopped naming viruses after the region they originated.

So similar arguments detailing China’s mistakes and corruption were called racist. Not because the information was untrue, but because it was only being shared to create racial tension.

In this case, it’s a graph showing how other countries handled the virus better than the US. This isn’t racist. This is debunking the claim that where we are in this was just inevitable.

There is nothing wrong with pointing out links from China and Italy that might have increased spread, but it is racist if your intent is to find people to blame instead of trying to find a successful strategy.

I'm not saying China is or isn't responsible for Corona but, for argument sake, IF they are, it's racist to blame the responsible ? if China is even indeed where the credit goes.

I don't think you have any understanding of what it means to be racist with a comment like this. Yikes.

It's not racist to say the disease originated in China and they could/should have done more to communicate things better and earlier, which would have helped the rest of the world out.

But getting into name games, and trolling to divide people is a problem.

and FWIW, I don't believe there is a people at fault for Covid, just a government (& governments)

The problem is, we already know how the origin of a pandemic is used, and it’s why the practice of naming them after origin was discontinued. For example, take a look at where the Spanish Flu cane from, and how it got it’s name.

And it’s obvious what the tactic is when instead of information about its origin and how that helps us stop it, they just implore is to name call.

Not intentional and completely unrelated to the previous conversation:

A suspected case of the bubonic plague was diagnosed Saturday in a patient at a hospital in northern China, health officials said.

The Bayannao’er health commission issued a warning Sunday, Bloomberg reported.

Officials warned of the risks of human-to-human infection from the plague and recommended residents take precautions.

The warning period lasts through the end of the year.

121 University of Washington students test positive for Covid-19

Of these students, 112 are residents of fraternity houses in the Greek Row section north of the campus, the release said.

Students who tested positive but are not residents of those houses are close contacts of the residents, according to the release.

On July 3, the Interfraternity Council, a student-led governing board for UW fraternities, reported that at least 117 residents living in 15 fraternity houses self-reported positive tests, the release said.
                        Bars

While all the protests, both for Floyd and to re-open contributed to the surge. So did Memorial Day and the Fourth will. Re-opening early and too fast was a contributor.

But I think from what we are seeing, there is probably no greater cause than indoor bars. It’s conducive in so many levels.

If we could just close bars, dining in, and large indoor gatherings, it might make a big enough difference.

I was looking at the data this morning and noted that while cases continue to rise, the total number of deaths continues to drop. That can only be good news and points to the virus not being as lethal as we feared.

So based on that comment that was quoted, where by one is simply looking at the responsible party (and no, I don't think we know as of yet if it was intentional and maybe we'll never know), then that constitutes saying something racist or BEING a racist? So pointing out the region where a disease originates is, in and of itself, racist? If that's what you mean, then I don't think you have any understanding of what it means to be racist with a response to a comment like this.
