Why can't I have my opinions?

Why is me thinking it's not a big deal and different than people here thinking it is?

If anyone places false power on the Staff at OS... it's the Users... not the Staff itself. The Staff are Posters also. They get to have opinions. Some of them won't be popular.

I completely agree Clay. You are allowed to have your opinion just like anyone else. Whether you like it or not though, as an administrator on this site, you're one of the "powers that be." Sometimes when you're in a position like that, diplomacy is important. Trust me..I know that's difficult sometimes. I'm an IT Manager. There are times when I'd really like to pull out the IBT, ID10T, etc. card, but I can't. I try to get my opinion across without offending the user base since I'm here to help them. I know that this is a free site, but if it's not here for the loyal patrons, what is it here for? It wouldn't be successful without the people that frequent the site, so their opinions should be considered as valid too. Obviously some people need to learn to say what they feel and move on, instead of continuing to beat a dead horse, but that's another story. I can understand your frustration.

Again, your (and all the other administrators, mods, etc.) contributions are appreciated.

i don't know what you're trying to imply here. basically it seems as if there was a lot of overreaction yesterday. and i, at the time, thought that you were a bit stern with another poster.. and really felt like he didn't deserve that response in that certain situation.

however, as was said, the day after things aren't really that bad. making your response to that poster seem a little less "mean".

I have to say I'm very dissappointed with this decision. Been a long time user and poster at OS. I hope it returns someday...It was always worth a laugh or two!

I find it unbelievable that people are getting this upset. This is a FREE site. These people are VOLUNTEERS. They do not get paid for this. They do this on their FREE time. Constantly monitoring and banning posters would take up more of their FREE time. Why is that so hard for some of you to understand?

I cant believe some of you have the nerve to actually complain and get this upset at these people who provide you with a website that is FREE. They are doing you a favor by just allowing you to visit this site. Some of you really do need to take a step back and get your priorities straight.

And for the people who are worried about having to start over and making new "friends" on another board. Why don't you create your own forum and invite everyone here that you know? You can talk about whatever you want, with whoever you want. Does that not solve your problem?

Or does that solution not work because it would require YOUR free time, money, and effort?

You said for yourself that our decision will not effect you too much. Well, wouldn't you consider it pointless to post your opinions about it, especially considering it doesn't concern you?

Next time, don't speak on behalf of the entire OS community. We don't judge our members based on post count.

I have been a registered member here since March 2003. I visit this site to get the latest videogame news, download rosters and sliders. Until now I have never had a reason to post before.

I apologize if I do not use this site as a means to get advice on finding a date, kissing a girl, finding out what kind of toothpaste you use or what is currently in your medicine cabinet. I do not use this site a a crutch to replace an non existent social life. I apologize if that is difficult to understand.

The purpose of my post was to give my support to the people who VOLUNTEER their time and effort to this great site.

I have to respectfully disagree with one thing. Without people visiting the site, there is no reason to have a site (unless you're into web design for the fun of it I guess). People have the right to complain just as the administrators have the right to take it into consideration or not. I agree that nobody should have been getting as upset as they seemed to be. There's a big world out there. OS forums are but a small part. This is obviously minor in the grand scheme of things.

I understand where you are coming from, but what is really bothering me is how rude and disrespectful people are acting towards the people who provide this website. These people work their butt's off for our benefit. And the lack of gratitude is just disgusting. 90% of the people who post on these boards either no longer visit or have forgotten that we have a frontpage. If the forum closed completely, that would not signal the end of OS. Remember, OS is bigger than your individual comfort zone.
