It helps A LOT. Be careful, because if you're wrong you will get burned.

Yup because if you committed to the run and it's a pass it's very hard to stop or if you committed to the wrong side you will get burned. I use it every play for the last couple years since it's been a feature and I've gotten pretty good at it.
That's why I never give up much yards, even on all madden.

I have stopped using run/pass commit as the CPU does not utilize this function and If eel that it's cheating the CPU a bit. That's just my opinion so use what you will.

If you're already playing on All-Madden, you might as well use it, the cpu cheats you in other ways so I think it's even if that's the case.
