Hitting just gets better over time. Quite a few people struggled with it early on. If you are using classic you will have to raise user power because I think every swing with classic is a contact swing.

Any tips for using the Power Swing? Is it a continuous motion (push back then up) or is there a hitch between steps?

The thing I don't like about Classic is no check swings. I was thinking of just upping power and using only contact swing, since it is the same as Classic.

I just hold down for the Power Swing right away and then push up when the pitch comes in. You don't have to wait to hold down so it's not much different from when I just push up for contact. I'm on the PS3 and I don't miss not being able to check swing. I have pitch speed down and I'm fine with it.

Ahh...I'll have to try that. I've been trying to pull back when I see the pitcher raise his arm and then follow thru when the pitch arrives. I didn't know you could "pre-load" the power swing. I'm used to the MVP NCAA swing stick where you had to try and swing in a fluid motion, which meant starting your swing when the pitcher was almost done with his windup.

Preloading the power swing is the only way to go baby!

Well, I'm definitely going to give it a try. I really want to try and stay away from Classic hitting if I can, because using the R-stick just helps differentiate this game from The Show.

Between exhibition and franchise, I've probably played close to 50 games. I've never hit a HR using a contact swing. I swing power with everyone unless I'm down in the count with two strikes (0-2,1-2) and I'll still swing power with my big guys. I guess it's why I strikeout so much. I believe in Earl Weaver baseball.

Re: Official MLB 2K10 Impressions (360/PS3)

Thanks for the help, Rudy and co. I just broke out of my slump in a big way. Playing an MLB Today game (Rockies vs. Cubs), I hit 3 HR's with Colorado, including an awesome 3-run pinch-hit HR by Jason Giambi and won the game 12-4.

I really focused in on looking for good pitches to hit. I scored 6 runs in the first inning and chased the Chicago starter from the game after just 2/3 of an inning. It was 6-3 going into the 7th and then Giambi connected to break the game open again and Brad Hawpe really put things out of reach with another 3-run blast.

Love the little crowd chants in this game. The Wrigley crowd chants "throw it back" if you hit a HR there as the visiting team. Cool stuff.
