Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Consedering his shoulder has given him problems the past two seasoons, I'd say it may already be one. On the plus side, its not his pull shoulder at the plate and his throw from centerfield couldn't possibly get any worse.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Joe Torre entered the spring with seven starters fighting for five spots. When camp breaks at the end of next week, he'll be happy to have four healthy arms to open the season.

Jaret Wright was the latest pitcher to go down, as he suffered back spasms while participating in pitcher's fielding practice drills. Wright's back locked up as he tried to field a bunt down the third-base line on Sunday, sending him to the trainer's room.

Wright has been in competition with Chien-Ming Wang and Shawn Chacon for the final two starting spots in the rotation, though the Yankees will need just four starters for the first two weeks of the season.

I don't know whether to be happy about this or sad.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

TAMPA, Fla. - New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada broke his nose Wednesday when he was hit in the face by a ball while playing catch.

Posada was scratched from the starting lineup for Wednesday night's game against Boston, and X-rays revealed a nasal fracture. Posada was to remain in the hospital overnight and was expected to be released Thursday morning.

Yankees manager Joe Torre said Posada had minor swelling above his left eye and was bleeding from the nose, but his eye socket was fine.

"It's probably going to be about five days (before he can play)," Torre said. "He can workout."

Posada was playing catch with backup catcher Kelly Stinnett when he was hit by the ball.

I broke my nose on Monday playing ball, elbow to the nose going for a rebound.

I feel Jorge's pain.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

I'm ready for Monday night already.

Back to the old days where we start on the West Coast.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Here's the 25 man roster to start the year -

Pitchers
RJ
Moose
Chacon
Wang

Wright
Proctor
Sturtze
Villone
Myers
Farnsworth
Rivera

Lineup
Damon
Jeter
Giambi
A-Rod
Matsui
Sheffield
Posada
Williams
Cano

Cairo
Phillips
Crosby
Stinnett
Nieves

No real surprises other than Will Nieves as the 3rd catcher. Nieves won't be here long once Pavano or Small are ready to return.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

God, depth is going to kill us if we have some injuries, especially to any infielders.
