I'm not settling for anything less than 35 homers and 110 RBI this season.

But seriously, I agree. But who knows, maybe he'll hit his stride quickly.

If he's playing third, does Betemit go to 2B with Getz?

Betemit can play second? Seems like he would be awkward at second.

Excited to see Moose play. I'm an Aviles fan but he's incapable of turning a double play and I hate how he is always leaning on pitches on the edge of the strike zone. Really bad habit and it burns him quite often.

He probably will be awkward at second, but we don't have anybody else who can play the position. It wouldn't surprise me to see Johnny Giavotella called up soon, mostly because I don't see who they have to back-up Getz and Escobar.

Well he's played 22 games in his career at 2B and has turned 13 double plays an only made two errors. He's not ideal, but he's not awful. I'd love to see Giavotella up here though, but do you guys think he's ready?

Re: 2011 Kansas City Royals

They were talking about Giavotella today on 810 and I didn't realize how well he has been hitting in AAA. For as much as we hear about all of our other prospects, I'm shocked that we don't hear more about him.

I'm all for bringing him up sometime this year. Especially if Colon really is going to get the move to 2B. Assuming that Colon actually puts it together with the bat and gets the call up in the next season or two, it would do us well to bring up Giavotella and see what we have.

Kind of the same thing we did with Kila. We knew he was raking at AAA, but we already had Butler up here with Hosmer not far off. We needed to see what we had with Kila so we could plan accordingly. Same thing should be done with the 2B situation. Assuming that Colon is getting moved there and Getz doesn't decide to be anything other than a hole in the lineup.

I don't know if he's ready, but this seems like as good a time as any to find out. He is on a bit of a hot streak from what I've read, so they might be leaving him down to see if that changes, but I don't think the Royals have much to lose at this point.

We don't hear much about him because he's not one of the big prospects. His scouting reports have never been that great, and even though his numbers are looking good that's hard for many people to look past.

Re: 2011 Kansas City Royals

Does anyone else think Hosmer swiping at every ball in the dirt at first base is a problem? It's defintely NOT how they teach it, but I guess if it works, it works.

Yeah he definitely does it too often. Especially on that Escobar throw. The only real reason to swipe at the ball is to get it in your glove quicker, yet he does it all the time.
