That's Dayton for you. I agree it sucks.

So... I hope Moose starts hitting soon. It's getting hard to watch.

I'd have no problem with him being sent back down. I realize these people have some weird love affair with Chris Getz, but we could send Moose down, bring Gio up, and have Aviles at third with Gio at second. Getz and Gio could split time really easily.

Re: 2011 Kansas City Royals

He has been smoking hot in Omaha, so let's hope he continues that in KC.

They're playing pretty well right now. Hopefully the pieces start falling into place so we can hit the ground running next season.

The way I look at it, if we had any consistency with our starting pitching at all, we'd be a much better team. We have a very solid bullpen, we can hit and have been fairly consistently, and we play great defense, minus Getz. There's a very solid foundation here, we just have no starting pitching.

Completely agree. Royals are great defensively: all of the outfielders have rocket arms, Escobar is a Gold Glover at short, Hosmer is excellent at first, Moose seems to be about average. Pena is pretty good at blocking pitches in the dirt but I HATE the way he throws on base stealing attempts. He's kind of slow to get the throw away and it's sidearm, so it's always tailing away from the play.

Bullpen is at least in the Top 10, and maybe Top 5, and they are all still very young and should get even more consistent with experience.

Lineup still needs a "feared" hitter. Billy Butt is great, but no pitcher is scared of him when he steps into the box. We need someone with legit 30 HR power. Maybe Hoz or Moose can be this guy, maybe not.

Starting pitching... yeah. Long way off. Duffy hasn't been anything special. Hochevar is prone to blowup innings. Chen's fine, but he's gotta be a fifth starter on a team that has any hope of being good. Francis... OK. Davies can get the hell outta here. The young guys in the minors need to step up and deliver, otherwise this team's ceiling is much lower than we are hoping.

Pena's problem is that he's a *****. How many times have runs scored because he refuses to block the plate. Treanor is a ****ing beast behind the plate, and can hit about as well as Pena. Now, Manny Pina is something to be excited about. He's been hitting well and from what I've seen, can play decent defense. Gio's debut was great tonight.

The thing about the feared hitter, we already have one, two, or three of them. They just need to develop into them full time. They will slowly, and I think we'll eventually be able to say we have a true middle of the order to be jealous of.

Starting pitching is this team's downfall. All 5 or 6 of the guys in our rotation should be 4 or 5 guys, minus Duffy, who I'm sure will develop over time. Davies shouldn't be on a major league 40 man roster. But apparently, GMDM owes someone a favor because he refuses to do anything about him.

Someone said something on Twitter tonight that really rang true to me. This Royals team is by far the most fun 48-63 team ever. I still love watching games, as much as I did while we were in first place for a month. This season has been one of my favorites in a long, long time.
