Have you seen the crap the A's were playing in the outfield last year?

82 steals between Rajai Davis and Coco Crisp isn't horrible.

The A's need a big bat and DeJesus, while being a good hitter, is not the power bat they need.

Re: 2010 Hot Stove Thread

DeJesus is significantly better than the Davis, Sweeney, Watson, Gross corner outfield group the A's were playing last year. I'm still hoping for a power increase somewhere but this is a definite upgrade.

Plus, this is the A's we're talking about. More depth is important since there's a team rule that everyone must visit the DL at some point in the year...

Re: 2010 Hot Stove Thread

Apparently the Red Sox are looking into John Buck. This is kinda playing with fire IMO. Buck has never had a season like he did in '10 (neither has Bautista but there are other factors that make you think he might be worth the risk) and while his power numbers were up there he was just Rod Barajas with more power.

Another thing is, Buck may be well loved by pitchers but he's a poor defensive catcher who was frustrating to watch behind the plate at times as he wouldn't go down in the dirt or block the plate. I could see him still producing the long ball in Fenway though.

Just thought i'd pass this along.
