Since some of you are Hating on Mike Vick w/o facts...

Its not the passingback fellas, its the quarterback, and Vick played that position pretty well.

He didn't pretend to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, like so many people wanted him to be. He did what he needed to to win the game. 38-23 record or something is pretty good. His record as starter was over .600.

To say that he's not good enough to start on any team is very bad perception. He could easily start on at least 10 teams.

In my opinion, the Falcon's system did not suit Vick at all. Roddy White was still young. I don't rate his other receivers, crumpler was a PRO-BOWLER with Vick.

And to complement Vick's speed, they had an even skinner (?) faster (?) speed back in Dunn. Imo Turner's power would have suited Vick's speed nicely.


Do you guys think Ryan is better than Vick? It's obviously to early to judge, but many say Ryan is better than Vick ever was which is categorically untrue.

Don't quite get how you can say that. Understanding that Ryan still has a lot to prove but:

Vick has NEVER had a higher QB rating than what Ryan had this year.
Vick has NEVER had a higher completion percentage than Ryan
Vick has NEVER thrown for as many yards in a season as Ryan did this year.
Only once in 6 seasons did Vick throw more TD's than Ryan threw this year (16)

So aside from rushing stats, I guess I don't see how it is categorically untrue that Ryan is better than Vick.

Vick is overrated. Plain and simple. A overly used excuse for his lack of QB skills is "He had no one to throw too!" Ya well tell that to Tom Brady.

Romo, Big Ben, Warner, Cutler, Palmer, Rodgers, Campbell, Eli Manning, Pennington, Brees.

and about 22 other QBs.

Vick is/was a product of the ESPN hype machine and Sportscenter phenomenom. Aside from his occassional long run, and ugly duck pass being caught, he did nothing. Look at how he fared against good defenses year in and year out (check his stats against the Bucs, he did nothing). Sure, he could break a long run but what about the 6-7 other plays a game where he would hold onto the ball too long and run in circles to get sacked? He had no touch on his passes, his career completion percentage i believe is in the mid to low 50's (correct me if im wrong).

The guy was not a true quarterback. There are guys who can scramble (or could scramble) that can also throw ala Steve Young, McNair, Cunningham etc.

Vick was hard to scheme for as a running threat, but you never feared him in the classic drop back. He wouldve been great in college, but there are too many fast players in the NFL.

QB's who are better as either a passing threat, a game manager or as a winner:
Big Ben
Warner
Eli (ew, i hate saying that)
Brees
Brady
Manning
Favre
Rodgers
Garrard
Cutler
Rivers
etc......

I would take any of those guys ahead of VIck, even pre-prison Vick

Like I've said many times, PLAYERS don't have records, TEAMS have record. Remember that there are 52 guys on a roster who win/lose games, not one player.

And you really think Vick's big run plays made up for all of the errant passes, the interceptions, and the fumbles?

People are just looking for any reason to say they don't think Vick is a good QB. As somebody else said, he neva pretended to be Tom Brady... IMPACT PLAYERS help teams win.

You've still have to produce any facts to back your case other than to say he's been to one NFC Championship and won big games(GB and STL)
