Key words being: I am hoping.
Oh man...

Just saw the spreadsheet on that Google doc.

I'm not trying to jump to conclusions but I hope you're right and these balance out eventually cuz these are awful.

Von miller and Cody latimer are as fast or faster than DT and Sanders on my team. That's almost unforgivable.

I'm extremely concerned. I can tolerate a little randomness but these ratings at face value, might legitimately alter my enthusiasm about the game. Just being honest, not trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. To me, in my perspective, these are really really bad.

I am on board for speed to be toned down. I would love for these ratings to not be so inflated and jacked up.

The speed makes no sense. Its like fast players all got their speed lowered but then allot of players didn't get the same treatment. So it's just one big mess.

CFM is unplayable with these rosters. I will enjoy MuT and hopefully from what I see FGB is re doing all the roster ratings. Hopefully I can snatch them up and play CFM then.

Player ratings are no easy task. But EA has the wrong people doing them. my biggest issue with Madden was the penalty settings and no WR/DB interaction. Now ratings are the biggest flaw with this game.
Mood killer is very accurate of a description for me too. I have been excited for M16, I'm a 49ers fan with all of the departures I was looking forward to some the additions we made. Torrey Smith was a 95 in M15 & is now a 89, Reggie Bush was a 94 now a 87. It just seems so random.....

I read here a lot. People are just on the jump to conclusions train. Got an idea. You like football? You like video games? Then don't complain, get excited about this years version. Maybe try the game out before you say this is the biggest flaw in the game or that this makes no sense. In real life football speed isn't the biggest factor. I for one am looking forward to seeing how the game plays, because game play is THE most important thing.

Well said

Had it just been speed being toned down, I would have loved it.
That's not what we have. What we have looks like they equivalent of throwing paint on a wall and just seeing where it lands. I would really love to hear the devs explain the method and maybe that would clear some things up

I also think people need to put in perspective that Speed is only one rating out of many. And speed is not even an important rating anymore to a certain extent. In Madden 15, speed had a very small impact on success and I would not be surprised for that trend to continue. Why is no one upset about Person A having higher route running than person B...that rating is much more important to gameplay for WRs than speed is.

Just a thought.

Well because that's not true. Speed IS the most important attribute in Madden. The route trees in Madden are not expansive enough to worry about RR. every WR runs the slant, post, hitch, etcetera the same way in Madden. IMO the reason why speed is talked about so much is because there's data available used by real NFL teams that could be used to rate these players. There is no need to guess.

Really hoping the progression/xp system makes it more expensive (xp), harder to get attributes up so we get a more legit feel for upgrading our teams. Would love for it to take a couple seasons of actually trying to get a rookie quarterback to a mid 80s rating.

Someone at OS needs to get an interview with the Madden Developers to explain the speed changes and how it plays in game. Just because a player gets older doesn't mean they immediately lose speed. It seem rookies and first year player are under the old speed thinking.

Its not the importance of the speed rating that's bothersome its the logic behind having a fast LB faster then a fast WR just because the LB is younger.

Brent Grimes has 81 Speed..same speed as Tilman..I was think of playin as the Phins but that scares me...and with Grimes bein short teams like the Bucs could have a field day so i'm with most of you, ratings right now are questionable at best

Madden is on the right path even though this path is like a turtle crawling down it. But Football gaming has been in a bad place for along time. Sports gaming in general with the loss of college sport games a few years ago and NFL 2k even though back then I purchased every sports game.
Also speed is much harder to improve than other ratings

RR and catching can go up very fast. These young guys with the unfair edge in physical ratings are going to be 99s in no time. Why give money to a vet with the gimped speed that makes no sense?

# 33 ATLBrayden @ 08/12/15 03:16 PM
Sure glad EA thought this through and fixed the speed

Absolutely ridiculous that these rookies are so much faster than their veteran counterparts... this makes it feel like that guy who said his friend saw the draft classes had a ton of speedsters too wasn't lying.

# 34 tikibarber @ 08/12/15 03:18 PM
Wow whats up with speed ratings. Desean Jackson and Rodgers Cromartie both 98 speed last year and two guys i would bet the house on that no one in the NFL could beat in a straight up footrace, drop to a 92 and 91 in speed. Wow!

My thoughts exactly.

Kinda happy with the changes to be honest, now Barry Church has an 81 speed. That's something he's deficient at IRL, thus you should have him in the box to use him effectively. On Madden 15 he has like 85 speed and hardly ever gets beat over the top.

Very intrigued by the ratings changes. I think they have different scales per position in order for the game to play the way they want it to play. I wouldn't worry about it til playing the game.

Maybe the reason linebackers are so fast is because they want them to be more a factor in the running game (setting the edge etc.) getting into position faster.

# 38 Cowboy008 @ 08/12/15 03:41 PM
Looks like the speed rating for everyone has went down. That's good as long as the rookies coming into the league aren't all faster than these guys.

# 39 thawkprime 21 @ 08/12/15 03:47 PM
Im happy to see players not being as fast and just being able to out run defenders for big plays. Im actualy going to have to pay attention know and hit holes when running and the open reciver and not just throw to the guy who outran coverage.

When you look into it to of the fastest 179 with speed 91 or higher only 2 are not Defensive backs, WR, or RB and that it 2 young outside linebackers who can actualy fly around for real.

# 40 Mauer4MVP @ 08/12/15 03:55 PM
Xavier Rhodes and Robert Blanton rated the same? Yeah okay. Rhodes was just arguably the best corner the last 6 games of the year and top ten overall.

I knew he'd be underrated.
