Re: FIFA 18 OS Community Sliders

One thing about the patch I like is that my defenders don't seem to have the same "bamboozled" mechanic when the cpu enters into the new LB close dribbling.

Re: FIFA 18 OS Community Sliders

Hey guys

I'm playing on PC and I also noticed an obvious speed increase after the patch. The overall pace (especially those "nervous" turning and moving animations) felt way faster than before.
But one thing mentioned by some people here that I couldn't reproduce was this strange "workarround" with starting a kick off game to "reset the gameplay". I tried that by myself - played a whole game in the kick off mode and afterwards played a game in my pre-patch CM (with Real Madrid) and also a match in a new CM and all games felt exactly the same with regard to pace.
And to be honest, that's nothing what's surprising me. Though I'm no game developer, I think that if a patch does change some gameplay stuff it changes the gameplay in every mode. So I think it's illogical that pre-patch CM should resp. could play different than new CM's. Couldn't you guys beliefe that maybe this feeling was just some kind of placebo effect?
And even if it wouldn't change the gameplay mechanics in every mode, so it would still be more logical if the pre-patch CM's are the ones which are not affected by the patch should therefore feel like it was before the patch (slower, more smooth).

So, in my opinion the patch obviously changed some gameplay machenics. But it changed it in every mode. So it shouldn't matter if you start a new one or not. Just imagine EA really destroyd the pre-patch CM with a patch - that would be naughty!

I'm sorry for my previous post. Some things don't work like they should. I wrote a long reply this morning but it just disappeared after I clicked on "submit reply". And so I made a test before I lose it once again.

That's just me though. I wouldn't say that 50 is unplayable but it does give it a "one pass fits all" feel. Again, this is just my preference while playing all manual and it is certainly subjective. I think that's the point of the sliders, to get to a point where the fundamentals are playing realistically so that we can then fine tune the mechanics of it to our tastes.

Downloading patch now.for PS4...

For me the two control options should have their own slider set...we're really talking apples and oranges here.
Yes, I think control settings are making a big difference, and that's likely why I have a different impression - because I'm not playing manual. I have in the past quite a bit, and I remember that short passes and layoffs were an issue. So I could definitely see how a lower pass setting works well for resolving that.

I've been playing on assisted or semi (still haven't settled on which) and personally I find 50 passing for the user to be great. Tons of variety. Love the new threaded through pass this year (something I didn't know about until yesterday!). Plus I also feel like I notice individuality in passing more than ever this year with assisted, which is one reason I'm leaning that way. And I rarely use the driven pass myself, so it's not a big bother to me in terms of user pass settings.

I agree though. Different control settings (and game speed!) have such a massive impact on gameplay, it's almost like we have to state exactly what settings we're playing with before we post!

Re: FIFA 18 OS Community Sliders

Ended up turning the game off halfway through my second pre-season game with Blackburn.

My first match was lost 1-0 to an injury time goal against Molde. I'm glad it was a close game and not the terrible 5-4 style games I was having pre-patch with Crystal Palace, but it was so incredibly boring and frustrating trying to literally carve out any shots on goal or getting into the area whatsoever in the first place. I found it too slow for my liking so upped the game speed to normal (left the sliders as they were on page 1 here) but then the next game against Novara was definitely too fast again with the ball pinging around too much. I was at 0-0 just after half time when I got so bored that I wondered why I was forcing myself to play something I wasn't enjoying and switched off.

Maybe I'll try again with a Premiership team to see if it was just a case of picking a very limited club along with the slider levels being changed around but at the moment my first experiences with the game both before and after the patch have been poor.

Re: FIFA 18 OS Community Sliders

As mentioned, if you are having any bad games after the patch, such as increased speed, etc. Please play a kick-off match, with the OP sliders, and see how it plays. Then go back into your CM and try again.

Also, so far, I do not see any significant changes to the OP sliders. Still looking at some values to make absolutely sure though.
