PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

THE FAB 5, WEEK 12

1.PITTSBURGH STEELERS (9-3)

2. GREEN BAY PACKERS (9-3)

3. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (9-3)

Cousins, Taylor Cleared For Sunday's Games

The Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins will be getting their starting quarterbacks back earlier than originally expected, with Tyrod Taylor and Kirk Cousins receiving approval to make Week 14 starts. The 6-6 Bears will be putting their faint playoff hopes up against the 4-8 Dolphins while Washington (5-7) can avoid another non-winning season for at least one more week by beating Jacksonville (4-8).

Raiders' Carr Breaks Down Again

Holy SamTony Romoford! The Raiders need to find that snake that keeps biting Derek Carr, who has not been able to play a full season since 2015. He missed 3 games in 2016 and 7 last year. And now, with the Raiders riding a 4 game winning streak that has them only 1 game behind Kansas City in the AFC West, he hasa broken hand that’s no going to be healed until after Championship Sunday. It’s going to keep some creativity from rookie head coach Kyle Shanahan to keep the Silver & Black in the hunt. #QBsdroppinglikeflies

Game Notes
Still reeling from the loss of Teddy Bridgewater last week, the Vikings were put down hard by the Packers. How much have they recovered since then? Looking at Minnesota's offensive numbers, the impact of Bridgewater's absence may be felt more in the mind than on the field. The Vikings are second in the league in rushing with the 1-2 punch of Adrian Peterson and Alvin Kamara, and 31st in passing. They got to 9-1 by pounding the rock on offense and shutting down opposing offenses with one of the best defenses in the league. The question isn't so much whether Los Angeles can defeat a team quarterbacked by former Ram Case Keenum, it's whether they can defeat a team that plays Minnesota's style of football. For the Vikings, they just need to get their heads on right and take care of business while Keenum does nothing to lose the game for them. He is capable of doing that, however as the Rams well know. This could end up being LA's lowest-scoring game of the season, especially if the defense can contain Minnesota's ground game.

Rams Player Stats

Re: California Dreamin'

That's a serious 1-2 punch at RB with Peterson and Kamara. Actually pretty refreshing to see that their #2 back is getting that many touches. If you can keep them from churning out consistent yards on the ground you should have a good chance at winning this one.

Looks to be a tough match up on paper, but with Bridgewater out you could possible key in big on the running game.

Re: California Dreamin'

Pyrrhic Victory?

Rams Win Game, Lose Goff

If the Los Angeles Rams are going to make it to the playoffs, they’re going to have to do it with Sean Mannion quarterbacking them for the final three games of the regular season. After Jared Goff was felled in Week 17 last year, Mannion threw for a combined 875 yards in LA’s two playoff games but that could well have been lightning in a bottle for that brief span of time. Over the course of a 16-game season, the 437.5 yards per game that Mannion threw for vs. Green Bay and Seattle would work out to a 7,000 yard season, shattering the NFL single-season record by more than 1,500 yards. It’s safe to say that’s a mark no signal-caller will ever hit. It’s also safe to say that Mannion will be hard-pressed to even approach the numbers he put up back in January. With no change in the halftime score, a 17-6 Los Angeles lead, Goff went down with 9+ minutes left in the third quarter. With Mannion throwing for only 20 yards on 6 completions in 8 attempts (including an INT), the Rams also failed to score for the remainder of the game. This time, however, they were not to be done in by some late catastrophe, although the game’s final moments were tension-filled. On the first play after the two minute warning, rookie Chase Edmonds busted off a 68 yard run down to the Minnesota 6. Had the play held up, victory would have been virtually assured. But it was erased by a holding call assessed against left tackle Isaiah Battle, and the Rams ended up punting. At this point the Vikes were 6 points closer by virtue of their lone touchdown of the game followed by a failed two point try, putting them in position to win the game with a TD. The ensuing Minnesota drive reached a 4th and 10 at the Los Angeles 12 with 25 ticks left on the clock. On that crucial 4th down play, Case Keenum overthrew Stefon Diggs at the back left corner of the end zone, and for once a bending LA defense did not break with the game on the line.

We didn't completely shut down AD but we slowed him down sufficiently to allow Minny only one TD, and Kamara didn't get involved due to Peterson's reduced touches. Overall one of our better defensive efforts of the season.
