are you trying to play it in 4k?

So I got the PRO last night and I have a 4k tv.
So should I play in 4k mode or high framerate mode?
Also what is the HDR settings that I cannot access?
      I am so confused. lol

Is your TV an HDR enabled set?

Because if it were really trying to render in 4K and downsampling, we'd be seeing the choppiness in the game that others are seeing in True 4K.

I can't see any discernable change in the 3 modes in framerate or image quality on my 1080p, so that's what I'm going with. High Frame Rate it is - because I don't have a choice.
There is no difference at all between the three modes on 1080p. They do nothing different. 1080p displays playing The Show 17 on a Pro get one rendering mode by default and that's high framerate mode.

It's weird as hell that they even let you select the other two options, and its weird as hell that it starts out on 4k, which caused some confusion and speculation. It's weird that downsampling was not included.

What type of display do you have, if you ahve a 4k, what mode do you have it on?

Let us know what happens. The image, for me, looked identical when I switched between an OG PS4 and Pro at 1080p. I would be shocked if any downsamping is going on.

It was set to 4K by default, even though I'm on 1080p, but even that was smoother than the standard PS4. On High Framrate mode, it's outstanding compared to what I was seeing before the upgrade.
The three modes are irrelevant on 1080[ displays. No idea why they have it setup that way as it only adds to confusion/speculation. 1080p displays only get HFR mode no matter what, at all times

I just had a go at the game on my Wife's PS4, and sure, it hits 60 (or close) at some points, but it frequently drops, just like it used to in last year's game. Same scenarios, etc. On the Pro, with high framerate enabled, it's 60 FPS everywhere. Fielding, throwing, every game play element.

We will never have a true 60 FPS experience with this game on the regular PS4. If you're serious about framerate, you should strongly consider the Pro. I was a little worried that I wasted my money, reading posts about people saying the framerate is much improved on the regular PS4, but after testing it myself, all I can say is wow.
It is not a locked 60 on the Pro either. It is smoother for sure but RTTS chugs just like OG, and even in normal games there are dips here and there

Sure (and I never said it was locked ) it drops from time to time but what game doesn't have frame drops?

I haven't played much RTTS yet this year.

If games can't rain out I wish they'd just get rid of it. It's worthless, adds nothing, and just kills performance.

I mean I could answer this but I am not sure it is worth arguing about. TF2 on a Pro never dips below 60fps but I get it.

I think what I was trying to say, more so than just counting frames, is that yes the game is smoother on the Pro for sure, no doubt, and I broke that down a couple pages back, and even better a lot of the random judder/jank that would happen at various points in-game seems to be gone on Pro as well, but it still happens sometimes. And honestly, at 1080p resolution, I can't help but feel like that's an engine issue. In a small AA park I shouldn't be getting sub-30 randomly when I am throwing the ball to first, at 1080p. Just talking RTTS right now. The weirder thing is it isn't every time. I don't know if its a hard drive assets issue, or what.

For people with 4k displays this seems like another holy grail type pro mode game. For people at 1080p displays I would, and this is just my opinion as a dude who has played as many pro mode games that can afford on my Pro at 1080p, that this game is not a great example of showing what the Pro can do for 1080p displays.

A number of other games do what The Show does for 1080p users, and then goes beyond and do a lot more as well.

Anyone done more testing with Boost Mode on/off? Curious if this does in fact lead to more framerate drops. I do not play much RTTS by the way.

I don't think we're in disagreement. As far as it being an engine issue, you're probably right. Most sports games play flawlessly at 60 FPS, except for the show.

No. There is Boost Mode that needs turned on (in your Pro settings) but some debate is going on if that in fact effects the frame rate on The Show. Inside the actual game High Frame Rate mode seems like the go to mode, as the other 2 provide no better visualizations for 1080p users.

Boost mode is for older games that are not pro patched. It will do nothing for pro patched games.

Just put it on high framerate in the Show video settings. I don't turn boost mode on for this game.
