Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
Same here. That shouldn't be right since we don't have 4K capability, so as others have mentioned what I think is happening is that EV and 4K just don't do anything for 1080p - we can select and apply the change but there's no change in the image quality. Because if it were really trying to render in 4K and downsampling, we'd be seeing the choppiness in the game that others are seeing in True 4K.
I can't see any discernable change in the 3 modes in framerate or image quality on my 1080p, so that's what I'm going with. High Frame Rate it is - because I don't have a choice.
It's weird as hell that they even let you select the other two options, and its weird as hell that it starts out on 4k, which caused some confusion and speculation. It's weird that downsampling was not included.
I'm on PS4P. It plays mostly fine, but the one game I played in the rain was a problem. You could clearly see the frame drops as the rain stuttered. There are also a few times each game where you get a hiccup mid-pitch, but nothing catastrophic. The only game I have to compare the experience to is Bloodborne, and it's much better than that.
This is getting discussed a bit on GAF, there is a member there who is a bit of an expert at this and has asked for screenshots of the various modes on 1080p displays to count pixels.
I'll do this when I get home tonight or if anyone else is a member, maybe they could help
Wife gave me the green light, so I pulled the trigger on a Pro tonight and I'm so glad I did. The game is way smoother now. I can't get enough of it. Had to take a break so I put on some CPU vs. CPU to play in the background just so I can keep enjoying it.
It was set to 4K by default, even though I'm on 1080p, but even that was smoother than the standard PS4. On High Framrate mode, it's outstanding compared to what I was seeing before the upgrade.
Okay, anyone who is wondering what the difference between PS4 and PS4 Pro is (in 1080p) in regards to framerate: it's a big difference. I just had a go at the game on my Wife's PS4, and sure, it hits 60 (or close) at some points, but it frequently drops, just like it used to in last year's game. Same scenarios, etc. On the Pro, with high framerate enabled, it's 60 FPS everywhere. Fielding, throwing, every game play element.
We will never have a true 60 FPS experience with this game on the regular PS4. If you're serious about framerate, you should strongly consider the Pro. I was a little worried that I wasted my money, reading posts about people saying the framerate is much improved on the regular PS4, but after testing it myself, all I can say is wow."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
I think what I was trying to say, more so than just counting frames, is that yes the game is smoother on the Pro for sure, no doubt, and I broke that down a couple pages back, and even better a lot of the random judder/jank that would happen at various points in-game seems to be gone on Pro as well, but it still happens sometimes. And honestly, at 1080p resolution, I can't help but feel like that's an engine issue. In a small AA park I shouldn't be getting sub-30 randomly when I am throwing the ball to first, at 1080p. Just talking RTTS right now. The weirder thing is it isn't every time. I don't know if its a hard drive assets issue, or what.
For people with 4k displays this seems like another holy grail type pro mode game. For people at 1080p displays I would, and this is just my opinion as a dude who has played as many pro mode games that can afford on my Pro at 1080p, that this game is not a great example of showing what the Pro can do for 1080p displays.
A number of other games do what The Show does for 1080p users, and then goes beyond and do a lot more as well.Last edited by The JareBear; 03-30-2017, 09:54 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

I mean I could answer this but I am not sure it is worth arguing about. TF2 on a Pro never dips below 60fps but I get it.

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
Went ahead and ordered a Pro, will have it tomorrow. I guess I will see for myself.
So many posts in this thread.
So 1080P I don't need to turn anything on the get better frame rate?

Re: PS4 vs PS4 pro
No. There is Boost Mode that needs turned on (in your Pro settings) but some debate is going on if that in fact effects the frame rate on The Show. Inside the actual game High Frame Rate mode seems like the go to mode, as the other 2 provide no better visualizations for 1080p users.
